Personally, I wouldn't include Pearl Jam S/T or Backspacer. I don't think S/T was underrated. Backspacer is too new to include. I would have listed Binaural and Riot Act because they've grown on me exponentially over the years and I think they are very underrated.
I really like the inclusion of KOL Because of the Times. That might be one of the most underrated albums of the decade, as was Aha Shake Heartbreak. Someone on the Official Board was baffled as to how that could be underrated. I think they're confused, thinking KOL was just as big in 2007 as they are now. Because of the Times didn't get any airplay whatsoever. On Call was played for a few weeks and dropped by most radio stations. That album got KOL some more fans in the US, but purely by word of mouth.

i still love the first half of it.
I wasnt trying to knock it, I meant it can be a great album. If your in the mood to rock out, that album is awesome. The beginning is a great album to drive to.

This list makes no sense at all. How is TCV underrated? It's fucking everywhere. TMV's De-Loused is often seen as their only great album. And so many albums from 2009 on a decade list? Jesus.

Calling an album that was released a month ago underrated is pretty stupid.

I agree with most of the comments...the only contrary statement I have to them is that perhaps this is a list of already great bands' records that were not given enough credit in the mainstream.
that being said...I am glad to see REM Accelerate on there. I actually think that is their best record since LRP, but it just didnt rate with people like the early to mid 90s stuff did. Their "time" has obviously passed, but they went out and made a better record than ever- THAT would be how I would define a underrated record right there. And using that definition, I actually think that Binaural is more underrated than S/T, btw.

chinese democracy is quite possibly the most boring, bland album ever made. If anything it is overrated.

The discussion came upw ith both Riot Act and S/T that we tend to view albums with a much more jaundiced eye when they are "the new record" than we do when they are part of the catalogue.
I don't really pay enough attention to know if S/T has become more appreciated, but I do know that Riot Act and Binaural were both much less enthusiastically percieved when they were "the new record."
