I talk music quite a bit with one of my officemates, an older guy (early 60s) who played in a band when he was younger and is in general a great admirer of both classic rock and good guitar players. I'm making him a PJ cd and I wanted to focus on the great guitar pieces in their catalogue. What, from the standpoint of guitar playing, would you identify as the high points in their catalogue?

Alive and Half Full come straight to mind. Given to fly, Hail Hail (I like that it's kind of a driven sound, not noodly at all but purely guitar based), I Am Mine, Breath, Garden, and on and on. Just my thoughts on it.

Just off the top of my head...it would seem to me that a classic rock guy would dig 'Hold On' from a guitar perspective.

Alive, Corduroy, Immortality, All Those Yesterdays, Nothing As It Seems, 1/2 Full are the ones that came to mind first for me, obviously there are more though.

Dissident is a good guitar tune also. And I got shit. Neil Young guitar solo! he'd appreciate that!

I've spoken to one of my friends about this at length. He often comes to the conclusion that Yellow Ledbetter is their best track for guitar

If enough people replied you'd probably see a vote here for just about every song in the catalog.

That being said...

Even Flow. Duh.
