doesn't that sound like some kind of short answer or essay question you'd find on a test in high school or college?
but really? why is that.
i know there's gen x girl and a few other females on this board, but the PJ community on the bbs's by no means proportionately represents the Sex divide in this country.
when i was in the midnight line for Riot Act at a local record store in houston, there were around 50+ people in the line, and only one was a girl. she was with another guy and she looked to be either awoken from her sleep, or already in her pajamas waiting to get home to go to sleep. i asked her, half jokingly, if she just couldn't wait to get the new pj cd, and she gave me the sarcastic two thumbs up.
seems like the audience is primarily male.
just seen from where i am standing at least.

Pearl Jam has been off tv and out of the limelight for over 10 years now and I'm not saying this is the case for all girls, especially the ones who post here, but I think the reason is because they are not on TRL or whatever might get them exposure on MTV.

as an older fan of 29,I remember when Pearl Jam had a huge female fanbase.Everyone I traded concert tapes with was female. The concerts had 50/50 males and females.
I think females got turned off to the political nature of recent music.
Also unlike men, females become fans of bands because they find them "Hot" and dream about them. But Eddie is no longer in the "Most Eligible Sexy Male Celebrities" list or whatever but a middle aged husband and father.I remember when Pearl Jam had a very big female audience-the females obviously attracted
to Eddie was one of the reasons they became fans.I remember in the early 90's all the females screaming "I love you Eddie",etc.Females even thowing their undies onto the stage (Eddie ofcourse threw it back)

Only cool chicks like PJ. Hence, the relatively low number.

I don't know where you people have been lately, but of the 3 shows ive seen there's been a fairly large female contingent (Toronto & Boston). Nowhere near 50/50 but there was still quite a few. Id say at least 70/30. Which is pretty good. Most of the other concerts ive seen, its been far less than that.
This thread reminds me of the scene in spinal tap, when the band members were asked the same question, but their response was fear.

I Love Pearl Jam... I think that there were a lot of "eddie freaks" at first, and now the chicks left are, for the most part, about the music. There's nothing better than seeing them play and just being in the room. Magical.

Now they can find Franz Ferdinand "hot"
Good theory.
