Just received my copy of the 'Eat Pray Love' soundtrack CD from Ten Club.
(Side note: It also has the Dead Man Walking version of 'Long Road' with Ed and Nusrat on it).

The album is actually released by Monkeywrench Records and Madison Gate Records, which probably explains 'Better Days' being on it.

So is Monkeywrench branching out of the immediate PJ family tree (PJ, Brad etc) and into soundtracks? Could Monkeywrench conceivably sign some bands outside of the PJ family tree?

If so and they could make money off of it then maybe we won't have to see another Target commercial...but seriously I think that would be kinda cool if they stayed away from cheese like Eat Pray Love and leaned a bit towards the Indy side of things...EP anyone?

I don't see it happening. Stone's Loose Groove went bust because it took too much time to run it. So I don't really seeing Monkeywrench being anything more than a PJ/related vehicle.

You're probably right, but there's no reason they can't hire a CEO to run it.

Loosegroove was different. Stone had much more of an active role in terms of the business side of things. Monkeywrench appears to be run more by management. The band don't have to give a shit about the day-to-day.

Brad takes eight years to release Best Friends?. Pearl Jam takes eight months between recording Backspacer and releasing it. Stone's Australopithecus never sees the light of day.

... what the fuck made Stone think he could run a label and abide by deadlines?
