I'm not sure if this thread's been done; did a search and found nothing.
When listening to the albums, what member sticks out at you for contributing the most to your enjoyment of it?
Ten - Mike. His solos and guitar work are all over this album, and he makes good use of it. It's surprising to me looking back how prominent his sound was even from the beginning. Vs. - Not sure. Maybe Dave, for contributing Go, along with really great work on W.M.A., Rearviewmirror, Blood. Vitalogy - Eddie. Best vocals, arguably best lyrics, and he brings in three killer songs (Better Man, Corduroy, Immortality). No Code - Eddie or Jeff. I lean towards Jeff because I've always really loved his work on this album, particularly Present Tense. Yield - Stone. In addition to being the first successful songwriter in the band outside of Eddie (with No Way and All Those Yesterdays), he brings in Do The Evolution and In Hiding, two of PJ's finest songs. Binaural - Eddie. For bringing in Insignificance and Grievance. His best lyrical work may be on this album. Riot Act - The only album where I can't pick out a star. S/T - Stone. No one's shining bright here, but his three musical contributions (Life Wasted, Comatose, Parachutes) are my favorites on the record. Backspacer - Jeff and Matt. The band gets some low end back, and the rhythm section puts it to good use.
Ten: Stone. he wrote some incredible music. Vs.: Dave maybe? vitalogy: Ed. best writing he's ever done No Code: Jack. no contest. Jeff is great on it too. Yield: group effort. tough to single one out. the rest: dont know, dont really care.

Can you please somehow fit the word rank into the thread title?

Ten: Stone, hands down. He was the template for this band's sound. Vs: Dave. Great drumming in Go, WMA, & RVM. Vitalogy: Ed. This whole album is all Ed. No Code: Jack. Brought a new groove to the band, allowed them to explore new avenues. Yield: Stone. Great riffs all over this album. His contributions are some of my favorite all time songs: DTE, All Those Yesterdays. Binaural: Ed. Insignificance, Parting Ways, Grievance are 3 of the 5 best songs on this album. Riot Act: yikes, not sure. Its all over the place. I'll go with Ed since there's a leaning towards the punkier songs and the overall atmosphere of the lyrics. Self-Titled: Mike. Some of his songwriting stands out in this album. Marker, Inside Job. Backspacer: Jeff & Matt seem to have the most going on here in my ears.

Trying to evenly consider performance and songwriting..
Ten: Stone/Ed. Stone because his riffs are all over the place, and Ed, because I've always considered it to be very vocally led - powerful performances top to bottom. Vs: Stone/Dave? Vitalogy: Ed. No Code: Ed/Jack. A lot of good Ed songs, great lyrics. Jack's performances are great. Yield: Stone/Mike. Great musical inputs from both, and the guitar tones and layers throughout are fantastic. Binaural: Ed/Matt. Ed's songs are fantastic, his lyrics are all strong. Matt's playing is great throughout. Riot Act: Ed. I'm not overblown by the other members' contributions here. The album is seriously weak without Ed's songs. Avocado: Matt. Equal input with songs...so judging by playing performances I'll give the nod to Matt. Backspacer: Ed. The album is so weak without Ed's songs: GSMF, Just Breathe, Unthought Known, Speed Of Sound, The End. I also like the lyrical themes and links between the songs that tie the whole thing together.

Ten: Clearly Stone on this one. Ten is very much Stone's album. Vs: Tough to single out one guy here, but Dave A seems to be as good as any. Vitalogy: Ed...maybe the easiest choice on any of these albums. No Code: Jack...brought a completely new vibe to the table and got the guys to get along again. Yield: Stone's best work since Ten. Honorable mention to Ed...for better or worse his decision to give the bandmembers more room to be creative is the reason we are still getting new music to this day. Binaural: NAIS and Sleight of Hand are two of my favorite Jeff songs, but i've got to give this one to Ed for Insignificance, Parting Ways and Grievance Riot Act: Ed. Not my favorite album, but the best songs are Ed songs, with the exception of All or None, are Ed songs. Pearl Jam: Mike...but this one was a tough one. Backspacer: Ed. Three of the four top songs on the album (The End, Just Breathe, Unthought Known) are Ed songs.

Ten - Ed my initial thought was Stone because he wrote some amazing riffs. Let's be honest though, without Ed they wouldn't have taken off like they did (plus Black and Release)
Vs. - Stone Dave a close second for his contributions and over all bad assedness. Stone just had such a groove on this one
Vitalogy - Ed He took the reigns on this one. And while the band was probably very concerned that he was going to drive the car off a cliff he proved to be thinking with the right mind
No Code - Jack My favorite drumming on any PJ album. See In My Tree, Who You Are just for starters.
Yield - Everyone To me this is the best "group" album they have. Band hitting on all cylinders
Binaural - Jeff Ed wrote a ton of great music for this album but Jeff really stands out to me on here. Great songwriting from him as well, including b-sides, etc.
Riot Act - Mike Mike worked well with what he was given on this album. Great lead work throughout. A close second for Jeff
S/T - Stone .....i guess. Mike plays a ton of leads here as well but i don't care for his songwriting on this
Backspacer - Matt While not my favorite album of the Matt era, this one stands out to me as the freshest his drumming has sounded
