I'm making a Pearl Jam Mix for my hipster friend who mostly scoffs at PJ's radio singles. I'm attempting to show this dude the more "creative, artier" side of the band. Does anyone have any experience making a mix for a musically snobby, pretentious douche?

Of the Girl
Push Me, Pull Me
In My Tree
Green Disease
Do the Evolution
W.M.A.
Grievance
Insignificance
Tremor Christ
Sad
Parachutes
Aye Davanita
Last Exit
All Those Yesterdays

If the hipsters on a Pearl Jam message board don't like Pearl Jam, the others surely won't.

Basically I was just hoping they would post here and tell me which songs they like.

Also, No Way & Sleight Of Hand

Good choices, Farmer John. Not sure about Green Disease and Do The Evolution.

I'm the opposite of hip, though.

Present Tense is too earnest for today's jaded youth. but otherwise they all sound good. maybe Faithfull?

I thought Green Disease might be new-wavey enough to be considered cool.

and you're right about needing more No Code.

Well, a little more detail would be good, since "hipster" is kind of a catch-all term. What does your hipster friend listen to?

Dunno if it'd appeal to a "hipster" but I made this CD a while ago for one of my jazz friends, with great success

01. Of the Girl
02. Sad
03. In My Tree
04. Rearviewmirror
05. In Hiding
06. Fatal
07. Off He Goes
08. No Way
09. Insignificance
10. Parachutes
11. State of Love and Trust
12. Light Years
13. Man of the Hour
14. Hail Hail
15. Green Disease
16. I Got Shit
17. Present Tense

lol I thought the same thing.

Also, I think Sleight of Hand might be too emo for the hipster crowd.

I'd replace RVM with green disease, but then again I can't imagine someone trying to make someone a fan with green disease.

I'd add undone if you could fit it.

Nice mix. I forgot about I Got Shit. I should add that.

My friend loves all the bands that Pitchfork likes. That's a bit of an exaggeration and I like a lot of those bands too, but you get the idea.

I should also say that I used to think I knew what a hipster is, but then I read something that said Micheal Cera was the "poster boy for hipsters", so now I'm not so clear about it.

If this is a mix for a hipster don't do the live stuff. Stick with studio recordings.

Maybe Oceans, Tremor Christ, Aye Davanita...

Oceans had crossed my mind, but I'm pretty sure he's familiar with all of Ten (and he doesn't like it).

Tremor Christ and Aye Davanita are already on there.

I find their ironically retro t-shirts delightful.
