i am currently looking for some live videos (preferably) of PJ, as i want to introduce a friend of mine to Pearl Jam's music.
he plays electric guitar himself, mostly lead guitar (the solo parts), and he's into older heavy music like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and also Guns N' Roses, Alice In Chains and Nirvana, but when i ask him about Pearl Jam, he says he skipped those in the 90's, choosing Nirvana instead.
still, he's open to new music, and i so want him to see the power of PJ's live music, as i'm positive he'll like it, as you can see from his musical references (it almost looks like it is Mike McCready i'm talking about here!!
so, i want to introduce him using live clips, and i want to hit him with some hard and fast riff music. suggesting Off He Goes to him will most definitely do just that, make him abandone PJ once again.

Hail hail from Letterman.. Grievance from Letterman.. Any of those Letterman performances in fact. The vh1 storytellers gig is kind of anemic, as is the acl show so avoid those.
The live stuff from saturday night live is mostly good.
Look up pearl jam hard rock calling london on youtube. All the about is on youtube anyways. Good luck.

Considering the description of music your friend likes, it almost seems like a mix of really obvious songs off Ten and Vs. would be the way to go. If you need it to be live, just pick and choose some stuff from Vegas '93 or Atlanta '94--something in A+ sound. But if your riff-mad buddy doesn't go for "Go" or "Animal," PJ just might not be the band for him.
Actually, go with "Gonna See My Friend." There's some rawk-n-roll riffage if out they ever did bust it.

Classy.
I'd go with the Lo2L option also.

Im picturing a guy enjoying a couple minutes, saying "this isn't bad, I kinda like it" as he anxiously waits to go to the bar. After a couple more songs he starts to check his watch. Becoming more effusive in his praise, in hopes that your convinced. By the 5th or 6th song, he begins to get a little edgier, wondering what he can say about the relentless playing of songs thats going to allow him to move on with his evening.
Ah, closing credits. Finally free to getting on the road, or getting the party started. BUT WAIT. Here comes... Single Video Theory. "Come on man, we'll watch this later, let's go" "no, just a couple more minutes, the bar doesn't even get going for another hour or so"
He takes your word for it, and waits patiently. He wonders to himself why and when Eddie Vedder got this awful haircut. Wait, this isn't even songs? You're making me watch them talking about songs?!
"dude, _____ is already up there, lets go" "come on, here, let me put in this one more song on this other dvd" "sigh"
In goes Cornice. "See Man, isn't this awesome" "yeah, it's great...." *honk* "hey, i just called _____ to come get me. Enjoy your DVD."
