I own the Flaming Lips' Zaireeka album. The concept is that there are 4 discs and you sync them up on 4 different CD players to get the full experience. Can you think of 4 Pearl Jam songs you'd like to have coming at you all at once?

I think four different songs at once would cause a seizure.

the four cd's have music. And if you play them all together at once you got a new song? is that it?

Yeah, I don't have the CD handy right now, but you put the 4 CDs in 4 players and put them all on pause. Then you start #1. It says "start disc #2 now." Then 3, then 4. So you get one album with different stuff coming from 4 different directions.

Playing 4 Pearl Jam songs at once wouldn't be nears as synchonized, but I thought it would be fun to discuss.

I wouldn't mind that. I've owned Zaireeka for over a year and have never played it across 4 players. I can't get 4 decent CD players together in one room to do it!

Rip it to PC. Unless you use 4 of the exact same players, it will not likely line up.

Well, then I can combine it into one song, but I don't get the feeling that you're supposed to get when each part comes from a different direction. I'll have to type out the liner notes in the Other Bands section this weekend.

That is fantastic. I really need to find me a copy of this to listen.. This is an incredible idea. Thanks for clarifying it to me.

Ask one of the resident DVD autors to recommend a 5.1 mixing program.

I also remember seeing an interview with Wayne when this was released. He said that syncing the discs isn't that important as part of the purpose was to make a different record with each listen.

I am still stuck in the 80's technologically. Even if it's 5.1, I have no 5.1 system to play it on. It was obviously designed to be a pain in my ass, and you have to respect the artists' wishes.

I had a Best Buy gift certificate, and I imagined having a much easier time assembling 4 CD players in one room.
