I've never heard even a bootleg of All those yesterdays live, but it'd be cool if they got really heavy with it towards the end and jamme dit out. That one has potential. Hugely overlooked live..

The studio version has never been matched, but I think even the recent ones from '09 (haven't heard the one from '10) are really nice.
The whole front-loading of albums thing I think dates back to the vinyl era, when the clear division of a side A and side B was a bigger deal. You're right that U2 are notoriously bad about it, but I think the worst perpetrator I can think of is Van Morrison's "Moondance." Some nice songs on side B, but man, what a dropoff.

Van is in a league of his own though, it's barely comparable. Possibly every band of note does it, it's just that it's more noticeable in that this band are the focus here for us and are weirdly guilty of it in the modern day. I know they like the throwback/classicist idea but it's such a given i doubt they even think about it much and really, they should.

I'm finally 100% comfortable saying that Yield has climbed into my #4 spot (on PJ rankings), with a strong will toward the #3.
It took me a long time. But I finally get it. I've been coming around on it since September or so. But now I'm all in. I think I'll do an LAL on this in the next couple of days.
You're a good man, comma.

Oh I agree, but a big number towards the end would have balanced it all out nicely. PJ records are often front loaded/top heavy. None more so than Yield.
I am with you, dime
Of course you are.

I love the 7/11/03 acoustic version. Check that out.
