I've often found that trusting an artist's opinion on judging the quality of his/her own work is usually a pretty good way to get an accurate reading on how good that work actually is.

Every artist's newest work has always been their best ever funnily enough.

Exactly. So he's not sure exactly when their next great album will be made because he doesn't know when the 10th album will be made.

That's why I love you, Pete. You're an optimist. And I think that's sexy.

Yep. Time for someone here to record Pearl Jams first single and "leak" it to RMs Gmail.

Mmmmmmm.......mmmmmmm. Mmmmmmm.

So after taking their time to get to this point with the album.

They are going to need to rush at the end to get an album out in time to tour in support of it.

So they last recorded in sep/oct ???

And aren't going back to that material plus new songs written in between until Feb/Mar.

Sounds well thought out.

I'm looking forward to Backspacer not being the most recent record but not hopeful for this one.

I remember at one point that they said they just want to make studio albums and not have to tour - yet they've done the complete opposite.

They probably said that when they were trying really hard to be the angry grunge rocker. (i think that was around the 95 tour debacle) They have also always said that bands play live and thats where they thrive.

Point is- they say lots of things. They have also said the next album will be a huge departure and will also be a logical extension of backspacer. And also may alienate some as No Code once did. Ed has also said he was tired of focusing so much on lyrics. But then also said continuing down the route he did with backspacer would not always yield the best results.

We dont know. Fun to cherry pick and connect dots though!
