Having discovered PJ when I was 11, I thought all these songs sounded like wimpy country shit. Which they kind of are. But now I'm almost 30, and I think wimpy country shit is perfectly okay.

Hate's a pretty strong word. I would say that there was a time when i was kind of indifferent to Tremor Christ, Black Red & Yellow and Wash and now i love all three.

it took me a long time to appreciate sleight of hand. but i'm most definitely on board now. i would go so far as to say i love it. that's probably the only song of theirs i can say that happened for.
i did not like down at first. same with 1/2 full. live versions made them enjoyable.
I disliked most of No Code until about 2000. Its a top 3 album for me now.
I'm glad you saw the light. It's such a good album!
It definitely is - 5 songs are easily in my top 20: Hail Hail, Who You Are, IMT, Off He Goes, and Red Mosquito.
Other than Red Mosquito, the album just didn't connect with me when it came out. I listened to it several times and tried to convince myself that I would like it. It just took time. I think I was just really wishing they'd get back to the Ten/Vs sound. I'm glad they didn't!
