Ten - Alive
Vs. - RVM
Vitalogy - Not For You or Immortality
No Code - Present Tense
Yield - GTF
Binaural - Tough one... maybe Greivance.
Riot Act - I Am Mine
Avocado - I'm tempted to say WWS

One thing I noticed was that you can sometimes pick a song which matches the album's theme and also the band's musical direction at the time. Not For You, for example, not only showcases how the band (Ed?) were/was feeling at the time but also highlights his growing power and control over songwriting. On the other hand, a song like Bushleaguer is indicative of an album's sentiment but not its musical content.

I can't agree with Given to Fly for Yield. It's way too earnest and straightforward, Yield is a quirky album. I would say,

Ten- Why Go
Vs- RVM
Vitalogy- Tremor Christ
No Code- In My Tree
Yield- In Hiding
Binaural- Grievance?
Riot Act- Love Boat Captain...?
S/T- WWS

I'll try and do this in regards to each album's major theme or mood.

Ten: Alive
Vs: Animal (maybe even Leash)
Vitalogy: Corduroy
No Code: In My Tree
Yield: Given To Fly
Binaural: Parting Ways (it's a very vulnerable album, everything is in some sort of state of collapse)
Riot Act: Love Boat Captain (or All Or None)
Avocado: WWS

Ten- Alive

Vitalogy- Not For You
No Code- In My Tree
Yield- Given To Fly
Binaural(this is by far the toughest one)- Grievance
Riot Act- Bushleaguer(I know it wasnt a big song, but if you look at the time and that tour, the anti-bush thing most represents to me where they were at the time)
Pearl Jam- Life Wasted

Why is Binaural's and ST's so hard to choose, I wonder?

st because the album has no soul to it, there's no atmosphere, and its hard to capture nothing with a song.

binaural is hard because there is a production war going on in the album, so it has two souls almost

Yield: Given to Fly
A wave of a song. There is defeat , triumph, joy, angst ,humanity and spirituality in this song. I think the whole message of Yield is represented in this one song.

Easy peasy

Ten: Garden (big riffs, solid vocals, tinny production etc.)
Vs: Animal (raw sound, angry lyrics)
Vitalogy: Tremor Christ (awkward instrumentation implying experimentalism, clever lyrics)
No Code: Sometimes (New approach, subtle and effective)
Yield: In Hiding (epic, ambitious soundscapes)
Binaural: Insignificance (simple riffs, solid lyrics, dark themes, crucnhy production)
Riot Act: 1/2 Full (political, direct lyrics, freedom for Mike, great drumming from Matt)
S/T: Worldwide Suicide (poppier songs, polished riffs, simpler ideas)

I agree with every one of these.

Perhaps not Garden for Ten though, I might've said Alive.
