I first heard Pearl Jam on a mix tape my older sister made for me in 1997. I know I had heard them before, but this is the first time I really noticed. I was into pretty terrible music, so she decided to make me a tape of songs I should probably know and like. Included on this mix was Black. It soon became my favorite song so I picked up Ten. It soon became my favorite album so I picked up VS, Vitalogy, and No Code. They then became my favorite band.

we have a few threads like this, D, if you're looking for good, long answers.
I first heard Pearl Jam in early 1992. I had my gotten my first job and used the money to buy a CD player. Now I needed cds. I joined BMG and decided to get Ten since I heard that pearl jam was a lot like Nirvana (who I had discovered via Weird Al Yankovich). I put the cd on while I was in my room doing homework and it was love at first listen. However, Garden was skipping and so the intro played for about 5 minutes until I got up to see if this is how the song was supposed to go. To this day I don't care much for Garden. I wonder if that's why.
