Anyone else think this should've been the lead single? One of the best, if not the best on the album as far as hard rockers go in my opinion. Uptempo, punked out, awesome lyrics. I don't care if the riffs sound played out. They're played out cause they're fucking good. I'm hoping it'll be a highlight early in the sets and that they'll figure out how to end it without it losing all momentum like it seems to do after Mike's shredding on the recording.
Unofficial Lyrics: I used to be crustaceon, ohh ohh
In an underwater nation, yeah yeah
And I surf in celebration, ohh ohh
Of a billion adaptations, yeah yeah
Got me a big wave / Ride me a big wave / Got me a big wave
Got me a big wave / Ride me a big wave / Got me a big wave
I feel the need planted in me
Millions of years ago, can you see?
The ocean's size defining time and tide
Arising, arms laid upon me
Being so kind to let me ride
I scream in affirmation, ohh ohh
Of connecting dislocations, yeah yeah
And exceeding limitation, ohh ohh
By achieving levitation, yeah yeah
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.
Got me a big wave, ride me a big wave, got me a big wave.
I feel the need planted in me
Millions of years ago can you see
The ocean's size defining time and tide
Arising, arms laid upon me
Being so kind to let me ride
Got me a ride
I got me a ride

absolutely not. It's a fun but ultimatley disposable rock song. It's towards the bottom of the record for me. A good rocker, but devoid of substance. Once I know the lyrics I may change my mind. But I'd put life wasted, WWS, comatose, severed hand, marker in the sand, gone, army reserve, and come back as singles before big wave

wow, you guys are harsh critics. the record is amazing, definitely overall, but with ed's lyrics, the rock of that tune, and his delivery of the melodic rhythm. i think its killer. not to say the other stuff isn't good, it is. i just wish it didn't lose all momentum at the end.

big wave may have been good on RA but hell i wouldnt go that far
it will be the first song that we will want to take off once we get some b-sides. .espically if they were like the binaural sessions
i also put parachutes with it.. the bottom of PJ
parachutes just doesnt fit with ANYTHING on this alnum...its a great song, but it just seems incredibly our of place.
My god, not everything can fit in anyways. It'd be incredibly sad if we'd had to miss such an awsome tune, just because it might not be the same as some other songs. A song at that level would fit on every album - no matter which one.
i didn't think much of it when i first heard it, but it's really grown. maybe you have to have surfed to fully appreciate it. definitely takes me back to my surfing days. makes me smile.
I feel the need

Cant you see
the oceans size?
Defining time
and tide
arising
Arms laid upon me
Being so kind
To let me ride

well, by fitting an album it should flow and Parachutes almost brings the cd to a halt, good examples of slower songs that really fit the vibe of the other songs are inside job and come back and even gone to an extent, as i said, its a great song, but just feels out of place on the album maybe its just the tracklisting, but parachutes just comes at teh wrong time for me and doesnt seem to belong with any of th eother songs

I just feel reminded to the destiny of Fatal or Sad. Even if these songs wouldn't have fitted Binaural perfectly, I nevertheless found it unbelieveble that they were left out.
But as I haven't heard the new album in total anyways, I am unfortunately not really able to participat a discussion about what fits together and what doesn't. I think I'll have to wait untill Mai to judge this.
I can see you point in general though.
yeah I dunno, this song lacks something... can't quite point it out though. the main riff sounds too much like the reoccurring one throughout the album. maybe it's just late and I'm tired. long day of surfing has done me in.

Yeah, i was gonna use sad and down as examples as two of the better songs left off due to "not fitting"...but listening back, they both could have easily fit on those records. Im not sure what songs you have heard...and at first when the first wave of leaked material surfaced i thought parachutes was awesome (still do) but once you hear it with everything on the labum i think youll understand a bit more what im talking about....just teh tempo and everyting is awkward......an dlike i said, it could really be teh way the first 4 songs just hit you in the mouth and then comes parachutes...i dunno
