"In a report to Danish Parliament, the police blamed the deaths (in the Roskilde 2000 tragedy) on Pearl Jam, saying the band had a history of inciting violence in their crowds."
“We have spoken to numerous witnesses who have told us that Pearl Jam are well known for almost appealing for violent behavior.” It also blasted “crowd surfing,” and observed that it was a practice commonly associated with the band.
WTF.
Pearl Jam has a history of boring a segment of its fan base to tears with long political rants between songs but to claim the band has ever incited violence is both wrong and slanderous.
Does anyone know if Pearl Jam ever demanded and received an apology from the Danish police?
Instead they capitalized on the tragedy and used it for a hit song's lyrics. Shame on them.
Thats disingenuous. Pearl Jam hasn't had a hit song since Betterman.
I can't imagine why.
