I think the lyrics and delivery are fairly clever and quite intentional. It suffers from lack of context at this point.....and sub 3 minutes grinds me.
Regardless of whether this ends up being a (totally unprecedented) one-off or the lead single from their next album, it's a toss-off of epic proportions. It has an infectious energy, and this is one of the coolest Mike solos in years--but I totally understand how someone could absolutely *hate* it.

i think I'd like this song without the ole stuff. I really like the last minute.
Stip, think about in this light maybe... Remember hearing "Never thought you'd habit!" back in the day. It was weird in sort of the same way Ole is right now as we're listening to the song. However, listen to the hook and groove in Ole and again compare it to a song like Habit. It's got that hook and groove thing going for it along with that unpredictable bit. Did I expect Ole to come from PJ? Nope, not a lyric I thought I'd ever hear Eddie utter outside of S. America. But nonetheless that particular lyric isn't a showstopper any more than "Never thought you'd habit" was in my mind. I think as we hear the song more, it'll absorb and we'll just get lost in the music. Just listen to the music and see if it isn't pulling you to bob your head and enjoy like it is doing to me.
I'm the first to admit that the Ole lyric was a bit hard to stomach on initial listen.
i think i actually mentioned that in the tsis thing I just posted (B can clean it up in the morning)--the habit/evacuation problem with the incessant repetition of an irritating lyric (which is really distracting for me). the problem here is that it's all over the verses so it's hard for the song to gain momentum. It seems easier to avoid when it is in a chorus

yeah, mike's solo is really good--the whole ending is really good, and I like how much they commit to the song.
