the one version from detroit in 2000 (i think) ed sings w/ way more intensity, but i think the tempo is the same. im interested about this as well
Yeah the tempo is the same on that one. Ed fucks up some lyrics halfway through the song but more than makes up for it with the intensity he sings the last parts with.
It's probably my favorite version.

There's mention in the PJ20 book of a special pedal that he rigged up for the recording of Binaural. The book's not clear on exactly when it crapped out, but I'd imagine that it's the same one he used during the Yield and Binaural tours to make his guitar sound so spacey. Whatever the case, that's by far the best Mike has ever sounded to me.

Fender Blender was the pedal he used for the recording of NAIS. I dont think he ever used it live though. He talks about it in a guitar world magazine back in 2000 or so.
For the Binaural tour im fairly certain he used a Boss DM2 (or 3) delay pedal.

Get outta here with that tech jargon. I'm more into imagery. Mike sounds like he's sending translucent blue cosmic rays straight into the aurosphere when he played live in the year 2000.

Agreed.
What does he sound like now?
I'll give a few of my recent boots a spin tonight and get back to you. My answer at this particular moment would be "forgettable", it appears.

Isn't that from that U2 special he did?
I never watched Conan all that much in the 90s (wasn't allowed to), but I do remember a show that he did once with a studio full of kids. It was the weirdest thing. I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about.
Also, I do get strat's reference, so don't take this post as an invitation to explain it to me.
