I'd much rather hear a Mirrorball II.

this thread is making me regret not having gone with a temple-of-the-dog-themed handle

Not while both bands are scraping the bottom of the barrel for their own material.

I don't even listen to the first one. Hunger Strike is era defining but the rest sounds horribly dated to me - there was a reason it got a poor reaction at PJ20 - it's not a good album and the few good songs don't work live. I remember when I bought it all those years ago after hearing Hunger Strike and Griel Marcus's review of Dylan's Self Portait immediately came to mind. Historically it obviously has its place and say hello to heaven is a nice elegy but when was the last time someone sat through 7 minutes of 'Four Walled World'?

Agreed.

The album sucks.

Four Walled World is an excellent tune.

I enjoy the whole thing. It often sounds dated, but then so does Badmotorfinger. It's of its time.

The lyrics are occasionally cringe-worthy, like 'You call me a dog...', probably the worst offender. Grunge was often basically glorified dad rock.

'Your Saviour' has a great ending. I wish it had used those chords somewhere in the middle as well.

There's nothing wrong with 'Push on Forward, Hacks'. That's got some good chord progressions and a good groove.

in the Taylor Hawkins interview there is a mention of TOD, and Cornell says they are only coming back just to have another band with Matt on drums.

Pretty funny.

Damn, I'm a taken back by the disdain for Temple in this thread. I love that record. Say Hello 2 Heaven, Wooden Jesus, Your Savior, the solo on Reach Down. It certainly wasn't the best album that particualr collection of musicians could've made, but it was still damn good if you ask me.

And yes, I agree that a Mirrorball II would be way more beast than TOTDII.
