About to finish my first listening. Hard to digest with all the excitement I've had for this album. I love it, that's for sure. It just happened so quick I'm kind of in a daze...

So far....first listen the order I chose to listen

Force of Nature
Everything I hoped for "a hurricane with gale winds flowing" so melodic and catchy

Amongst The Waves
Great just not as good as I hoped--sorry

Unthought Known
The way Ed sings rhinestones made me smile. This song is beautiful in the Nothing Left part. Lots of piano and drums.

Johnny Guitar
a very funky bridge " I sleep with the light on in case she comes" fade out...boo

Got Some
Think Grievance on Letterman then hearing it on the album--

Gonna See My Friend
A little kinda surfer guitar intro Ed is just shredding his voice on this--very fun
a nice Stone/Mike layered solo at the end

Just Breathe
Beautiful may be too much to listen to too many times

The End
Gut wrenching...how can someone sing with this kind of emotion this may truly be Ed's best song. The orchestral/horns whatever sneak up on you.

I think it has something to do with torrents, but I am not well versed in that stuff.

First impressions

Gonna See My Friend:

Great opener. Almost everything I've heard from this record so far just sounds so comfortable. This is the natural sound they wanted on ST unburdened by troubled souls. They're not trying to expel anything--they're just making music

Amazingly the chorus is the least interesting part of this song.

This song is a blast. It's like a fun breakerfall or brain of J

So, does anyone have the unofficial official story on how this leak came to be this time that they are not afraid to share? [names and likenesses can be changed]

I have been a fan since '91, if that helps anyone. And I don't mind being called desperate.

Pearl jams best sounding record ever. And the songs? mindblowingly good.

First impressions

Got Some:

I'm expecting this to be one of the weaker songs on the record, which bodes well. It sounds a little thin compared to the rest of the opening 1-2-3. Some suprise backing vocals. This sounds like what we were all expecting it to sound like. Nice outro

First impression 3.5/5
First impression GSMF: 4/5

that low growl/moan thing after the first verse doesn't work

The quality of the leak is pretty good, btw
These first two songs make the fixer better, if you didn't like it already. They flow very nicely together
