JUST TO REMEMBER!!!!
This list is my opinion!
If I say some song is overrated, it doesn't mean its bad or that I don't like it.

Most Overrated:

1- Leash
Leash... Just plain sucks. It got bad lyrics, the intrumental part does nothing for me at all and is very common to see people placing this song at their "favorite" PJ song.

2- Green Disease
ULTRA overrateded... Like Leash, the instrumental part does nothing to me, Ed sounds bad here and the song just... starts nowhere and go nowhere. It sounds like the band just feels bored.

3- Help Help
(Flame Shield) Aparently, everybody loves this little piece of experimentation, for me, it just not that good. The dual vocal thing sounds bad... The bridge just miss something. I know it suposed to feel "dark and hopeless" but it just sounds boring to me.

4- Sleight Of Hand
(Still flame shield) What everybody says about Speed Of Sound, I say about Sleight Of Hand. OVER PRODUCTED. It got a good riff, a nice melodic flow, but the production is terrible... The song sounds WAAAY better live, without all those effects in the guitar and in Ed's voice.

5- Rats
It just outplaced, and I can understand people liking this song, but for me, it just plain sucks. It's my "Glorified G" (Wich actually is a better song). It just sounds... Weird and outplaced. I just can't like this song.

6- Parachutes
It's... ok. It doesn't have nothing THAT great... But it was cool. Yeah, it got that Beatles vibe... Even using the word "troubles"... Its fine... Overrated nevertheless.

7- Satan's Bed
This song sounds SO unfinished. Its like Stone came along just. "FUCK... The album just needs another song, and Ed got this devil raping people song... Let me just do something here... Done." It sounds rushed for me.

8- Johnny Guitar
This song is so insignificant to me, that I always think that Just Breathe is after The Fixer. Its just... SO unmemorable. The riff is boring... The vocal is boring

9- Gonna See My Friend
I HATE the muffled Ed's voice in this one... It's even worse then in Breakerfal. Its far from beign a bad song, but its just a nice little punk rock song. Just that. Nothing more.
Also, it cryies for a solo...

10- Comatose
This songs is ALMOST good, but the chorus KILLS it... Its terrible... It doesn't deserve all that love it recieves... Its not bad, but the chorus just kill the song for me.


Most Underrrated:

1- Force Of Nature
Yeah its got a bland riff. Yeah its from Backspacer. Yeah its poppy. But its that a sinonimous of "bad"? Not at all, I dare to say that FON is one of my favorites PJ songs ever. It just a uplift song, with GREAT lyrics, a cool beat and hell, does it needs more to be enjoyable?

2- Come Back
I really LOVE Come Back. And no, I'm not the type of "I love come back because it makes me remember of someone I lost.". No.
I love Come Back because its beatiful. I don't see the cheesyness of the lyrics, and the song is far from bore me. I just see a really pride-less love letter to someone gone. And I really like this.

3- Glorified G
Its a fun song. And by the way, for those who complains about Backspacer popnes, Vs. its a pretty poppy record... (flame shield). I don't get all the hate toward this song, its just fun! And the ending kick ass. I love Mike in this one

4- All or None
Sometimes I see people saying "This song bore me to tears". C'mon, this song is beatiful. It NEEDS to be played more often... Its proprably one of the best songs from Riot Act...

5- I'm Still Here
I'm not much into experimentations, but I actually like I'm Still Here. I think its WAY better then I'm Open, for an exemple... It's always a soundtrack for my "bad love moments". And I love the end "sorry, never been to good at happy endings".

6- Life Wasted
Just like FON, LW its just a plain rocker, simple riff, nothing to much complicated... And I like it, I think its a good opener for an album and not a bad song itself.
I just don't mind the lyrics that much, and like everybody, I think the mixage of this song is terrible and the fade-ou is unneeded.

7- Save You
I don't get the Save You hate. Its awesome! I love the lyrics, the riff kicks so much ass and I can't just stand still playing this song. Really, I don't get it.

8- Speed Of Sound
Yes... Its overproduced... But I like it... Like I said, Sleight of Hand (studio version speaking, I proprably like this one better) is overproduced and everyone seems to love it... I see Speed Of Sound as a nice song, Its not fantastic, but is a really nice song... And... I like teh Lazzorrs !!11!11

9- Thin Air
Another "bore me to tears" case like All or None. Yeas Thin Air doesn't fit in Binaural very well... But fuck that, its such a preaty hopeful song, and its simple, but is fun to play and sing, and I love the lyrics.
And fuck you Stone for not wanting to release this one as a single.

10- Wishlist
ANOTHER "bore me to tears" case. I proprably like Thin Air more, but Wishlist is AWESOME. It kicks a lot of ass live speaking... I love how they do that light thing live, and its such an atmosferic song... Its awesome...

So... What do you guys think?

For the most part I like all of your overrated songs, but find most of your underrated songs ones to which I don't often listen.

I don't know if I could come up with a list as such, but the continued fondness for Yellow Ledbetter amongst the Pearl Jam fanbase continues to baffle me. How that turgid weekend-warrior blooz jam became such a concert staple I'll never know.

Footsteps is also pretty bad.

If you omit Sleight of Hand, i very much agree with the top 6 overrated.

Live Sleight of Hand > Studio Sleight of Hand.

Why dont we just have the pit rank the 10 best and then 10 worst PJ songs and we'll have our answer.

Honestly, I have a hard time coming up with scenario where "Alive" isn't far and away the most overrated PJ song.

If I were to expand my list, Black would undoubtedly make the cut - Breath and I Am Mine too.

UNDERRATED :
Evacuation
In The Moonlight
Cropduster
Get Right
Big Wave
Parachutes
(all of these too advanced/psychedelic for the typical Pearl Jam fan)

How is Parachutes overrated? Four people like that song.

Remove Evacuation and Big Waves, I like all of the above. (Parachutes is good, but overrated)

Underrated, both by public at large and the more discerning fans here:

"Oceans"--one of the least beloved Ten songs it seems, and compositionally almost definitely the most interesting.
"Angel"--too rare to jockey for much position in the fore of most fans' minds, and too not-written-by-Jack-Irons to have the quirk appeal of "Happy When I'm Crying." But again, it's an interesting composition with some marvelous singing by Eddie, maybe the first instance of the vocal layering that would surface later on "All Night" and "Arc."
"Around the Bend"--for closing arguably the most highly regarded album in the PJ community, too many fans seem to write this one off as merely average. I think it's maybe the best studio recording they've ever made.
"In the Moonlight"--the other Cameron tunes have a strong base of vocal supporters, but this one seems to get shafted by even them.
"Army Reserve"--take 'em or leave 'em lyrics, but there's an improv section at the end of this dying to bust out. Good groove and neat chords too.

That song is so great.

I only got one, since I pretty much like every PJ song.

Fucking Greivance. Everyone seems to love this song. It's one of the very few PJ songs I absolutely cant listen to. That and Evacuation. I even like God's Dice. But not Greivance and Evactuation.


Oh, and, underrated for being overrated -
Daughter! My favorite PJ song. Everyone seems to shit on it because it was a radio hit...
