if nothing else, it is nice to see someone post who knows what the words underrated and overrated mean.

The consensus is usually that the studio take is superior to the live take, with a few notable exceptions. There's hope for OTE yet, but it being such an outfield number that we know's been worked on a few times, elevates it's status a great deal. I'll give it a fair hearing if we ever get it but I'm not expecting a groundshaking revelation by no means.
when did stip become the consensus?
I disagree with stip on pretty much everything yet I still think the studio takes are superior to live ones.
and so if the two of us agree it automatically becomes a consensus
ah, this makes sense

No, seriously.
immortality is in piss break territory to be honest. the end of it is always good though.
I guess people apply different interpretations to this question. I was probably thinking of the song as it appears on the album rather than whether it is under/overrated in a live context.
Well, I think that was the question - you're misinterpreting it if you're listing songs that you don't like hearing live. If you list Immortality, you're saying the song itself is overrated.
How anyone could call Tremor Christ overrated is beyond me - also, I'm pretty sure Big Wave doesn't count as everyone hates it but me and 62strat.

people should check the SOTM threads, and any song that has under 80% approval probably can't be overrated. Any song that has over 80% approval probably can't be called underrated.
Now this thread can continue safely on its way!
Stip is again the voice of reason. And who can help after following this thread for 9 pages but wonder: how ARE these songs in fact rated by this community (for I assume this is these are the ratings we're referencing).
It'd be great if someone felt like generating a list of the SOTMs that got over 80%. I suspect the list will be way longer than it "should" be. (I bet like 70% of the SOTMs get ratings above 80%? But I might be way off...)
If I weren't burning through my data plan over here approaching Oslo on my iPhone, I'd do it myself.

God's Dice can't be overrated b/c, in general, no one gives a shit about it. Sleight of Hand, however, ... everyone creams all over that song all the time.
