I dont know exactly what I've heard. Just what's around.

And I just dont like the rap/hip hop style of music. I just dont enjoy it.

That's just such a huge blanket statement. It's like saying "I don't like rock music" instead of "I don't like early 90s grunge".

What about Sabotage? That's all intense guitars and drums.

He used the term 'feminem' recently. Too soon. He'll get there. Don't rush him.

I know it's a blanket statement. I really dont care for any rap or hip hop.

This was good but one correction: it's the age of the Internet now and news still comes slowly.

I bet they had a lot of fun laying this song down. I had completely forgotten about it until now. This was probably right at the peak of pearl jam's groove powers, which Dave A. had a lot to do with.

Doesnt Stone like a lot of hip hop? I bet he loved playing this.

I can't find one redeeming feature for this song.

I'm a bit of a closed-minded fuck, I hate pretty much all rap/hip hop, other than maybe two songs. This is no exception. Kinda glad this is as obscure as it is.

What are the two songs?

What it's Like by Everlast (which is more rap-rock than rap/hip hop) and some awful song from Fast and Furious, which I used to think was cool when I was like 12. :haha:

What about Public Enemy's Don't Believe the Hype? Genius.

I never even knew about this PJ / Cypress Hill collaboration, but i wondered what Cypress Hill was doing at Lolla when I saw them there in '95 or so.

"What It's Like" isn't really "rap"-anything--there's no rapping in it at all. It's pretty much just a folk song by a guy who's famous for being in a rap group. It's the Bizkit generation's equivalent to Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is."

Try The Roots, Tig--I grew up with similar rap phobias, and the fact that they were an accomplished live band who avoided many of the familiar gangster/booty/etc. stereotypes in their lyrics was pretty instrumental in getting me past a lot of the hurdles rock-centered listeners typically face regarding rap music.

Here are a couple of their more rock-oriented tracks:

I've never heard this. I was older than five but not into hiphop.

But those lyrics are absolutely hilarious.

I'm listening to this now, for the first time.

I'm kind of liking it.

The lyrics are still embarrassing, but the shredding guitar in the back is awesome, as is the baseline, as is the general flow of the rapping. And the nanana stuff at the end is fun.

Is Dave A. playing this? I'm kind of disappointed he plays so straight, not a very interesting groove for a groovemeister.

I'm okay with it, I was really into A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Jungle Bros, shit even Vanilla Ice at that time. I got nothing against honest rapping. I still like alot of rap, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest De La Soul, Jungle Bros, Brand Nubian, Erykah Badu, okay I'm kind of set in my tastes, but still it all fits in the rap category.
