I know:) Odd that, I just went to check what Stip reckons but he Hasnt done a sotm for speed of sound yet. Thats a shame.

I love the splashy playful drummin on puzzles and games verses. Stark contrast to the almost dead beat in Light Years.
A finished polished version of puzzles and games would be great to have. It sounds like an unmastered rough mix as it is. Wonder will it pop up on the Binaural reissue?

you know I did write several pages on speed of sound for the backspacer tour :)

Wouldnt it be cool if they polled us with a list of potential stuff for inclusion in the boxset? Thatd be cool. Theyd definitely get a clearer idea of what to include.

I'm okay with pearl jam listening to us for boxsets since they're meant for collectors and diehards. They should stay the hell away from this board when it's time to start making decisions about the records :)

So is there just the one version of this song floating around where the vocals are barely audible? If there ever is another Lost Dogs record I'd really like for them to go back and re-record/finish this one.

Synergy might need a new mod, stip. You should check it out.

Standing outside the venue in Cardiff in 2000(one of the bands picks for best show of the tour)Ed came out and said hello and signed stuff for us. Thats all that is. Hes a very humble, direct, funny smelling kind of guy.

Was there also a suspicious cloud of smoke wafting around him?

Very very cool. I have a pick that Ed threw at a St.Paul show but never an autograph or handshake. The signature on the Light Years page would be hard to ignore when choosing a favorite version of that song. Ha ha.

I like the north pointing tit. It's like he's saying "Dave - get a boob job. Eddie Vedder".

Yeah we were just chatting about boobs and Dont we all like our boobs to be pointing north? He agreed. I also mentioned to him Roger Daltrey had said some really nice complimentary stuff about him during my boob chat with him.. That and I was wearing a Who tshirt..

Yeah, I knew it was all about the boobs. Ed seems like the sort of guy who'd like a nice, upright set. What's 'The Who' got to do with anything though?

Well I didnt know what else to say to him so the Who seemed obvious as we'd recently met Roger. Goofy fanboy 'i love your band' stuff just sounds goofy and that's what everyone else was saying to him so I wasnt doing that.

Light years was my favourite song on the record at the time. Not sure that it is anymore though?

Whoever said that they should take the chorus from this song and make a new song around it has got the right idea. It's by far the best part of the demo; IMO, really the only part that works (the bridge that made it to Light Years is good, but sounds too shoehorned in here). But that chorus is too good to go to waste.

i love how gentle and meditative the verses are. They're like GTF without the bombast.

I don't know; it just sounds to me like he hadn't even found a melody he liked. It's too mumbly. That's not really a knock on it; it's a demo, I'm not expecting a completed masterpiece, but the verse just sounded like a placeholder to get to the chorus, rather than a final product.

Yeah, I suggested they use the chorus in future. I love it, and the 'You are never more beautiful that at the end of the day' lyric is really nice without being over sentimental.

Yeah, even the melody and progression is just gorgeous. I mean, yeah, it's kind of similar to Given To Fly but nowhere near the point where it's derivative.
