With the 2012 boots you can get higher quality with the downloads.

I'm grudgingly going to have to admit that most of my listening is done on my laptop with headphones. So downloads or streams are simply practical.

Although I do prefer the pleasure of having lots of friends listening to a CD on a stereo, that kind of communal listening experience is sadly a thing of the past I think. No one I know wants, or has the time to, sit in a room playing an album through.

and thats sad! i think.

they are albums out there, they have to be listen in full-length, for example kyuss (sky valley, circus) or slayers 'reign in blood' - cult of luna 'eternal kingdom' - metallica 'master of puppets' i don't skip any song on those albums and i hate it to hear only one song!

They're only little in-ear things, but they're OK. Not as good as your state-of-the-art beige things.

My only point was quality need not be disregarded simply because the source is your laptop, so long as the headphones are somewhat decent.

Of course not. I guess my point is not that the music is lacking but the trend of communal listening is not there like it used to be. All this phone / headphone / download stuff has meant that music listening has become a bit more private. If you're having a barbeque and suggest putting a CD on you kind of get funny looks... sometimes.

We usually have music on at the barbecues I go to. Well, not the family ones, but the friends ones.

A group of about a dozen of us went camping last month. I think we had music playing from a little CD player like 90% of the time.
