Eddie deserves an $80M fortune more than 'man who hits ball with stick'

Yeah, the guy rakes in the cash through all kinds of revenue streams. The laid back, one hit wonder beach bum persona is strictly for the stage. Similarly didn't Hagar say he made more money with tequila than music?
I wouldn't have guessed Ed was worth as much as he is listed. I'm sure he has investments we know nothing about but think in actuality it's closer to the Adam Yauch example mentioned above.
And I wouldn't have thought Grohl was that high up the list. I was surprised to find out Kurt Cobain's estate was worth less than $3 million when he died.

At the time he died Nevermind was still a ways away from the sales figures it has now and In Utero had sold substantially less than it did after. Seeing as how most of his money would have come from touring, unless they'd been playing two hundred shows a year and charging an arm and a leg post-1992 three million dollars that early in the career is pretty damn good. Especially when you consider that money got wasted, was taken by the government, and went to paying salaries and percentages prior to ending at that numero three.

Musician money is a weirdo game. Think about all those over the hill superstars who sign $50 million dollar five-record contracts well after their prime, or acquire the rights to monster hits they'd never previously owned (or gotten much publishing from). It seems like you lay the groundwork while you're at your peak, and then you get the payback afterwards.

I read Hagar's book he made a lot of money on outside investments. He had his hands in a ton of stuff and it seemed like everything hit for him eventually even if it was shaky in the beginning. Supposedly that's why things soured with the VH Bros. They cashed out too early on some stuff, or passed on some opportunities, missed the big pay days and felt ripped off/jealous.

I find it hard to believe this guy has more money than Clapton, Ozzy, Tom Petty, or Gwen Stefani.

Petty maybe, but the other three dont surprise me. The Chili Peppers have been pumping hits out for about 20 years straight.
