I don't know why but the beginning guitar reminds me of Peter Buck from R.E.M.

Well, he did sing BVs for their last album, so maybe they were an influence on his latest creative endeavours?

I'd like to hear a full band version of that. By itself it's not great. The... chorus?... sounds like "Santa God".

I can't remember what Santa God sounds like.

This song was... OK. But I can't help thinking that it'll be like Unthought Known, which to my ear sounded much more interesting than what it ended up as. They'll need to give it an arrangement, for a start. Once you get over the short-lived interest of "Hey, cool it's a distorted uke", I'm not sure what else is there.

This has potential. At least it wasn't some watered down Skipping type thing. It sounds like the band can do something with it.

Actually, I didn't even hear a chorus.

I like the verse part and the vocal melody, but it needs an extra section or something. After you've heard the first cycle you've heard the whole song.

I caved. Sorta sounds like it could be a big anthem but the crunchy punk bits kind of clash with the rest of it. I'm hopeful for it.

Yep, and after that there's "nothing left".

These are the parts that sound similar.

i liked it for its potential but i don't think i wanna hear this solo version anytime soon. i get the Santa God reference - it's like a cross between that and Release without actually being annoying to me.

that song has some potential. I wonder where they go with it. UK needed more than it got (there is still the skeleton of a great song there instead of the final product which is consistently decent with moments that reach for greatness)

That riff sounds extremely cool....Eddie's voice not so much but I don't know if that's just because he hasn't settled on a melody yet. It doesn't really feel like there's enough there to even hang an opinion on.

A lot of us thought UK sounded like an unfinished sketch when he was road testing back on that first solo tour. And it was the finished article as it turns out. Who can say?

I'd definitely like to hear the band go big on this.

I remember thinking UK would be a big grungy number with massive building guitars. When the piano revealed itself, I was like 'OK'. Missed opportunity. This one sounds heavier off the bat, which is interesting.

I like unthought known. Amongst the waves is possibly the biggest disappointment in their entire catalogue. First time I can think of that they're trying desperately to sound like PJ and failing miserably. It is a better song live but I hope sincerely they never try anything like it ever again. I can't tell if it's overbaked or underdeveloped. It's an embarrassing failure either way.
