Man, this film huffs dong.

I think it's an okay movie that falls apart in the third act. Also, Emma Stone is funny.

Emma Stone was awesome, I'll grant you that. Funny and cute something fierce.

I'd been thinking it would just be a forgettably pleasant rom-com, but the "okay, I'm out" moment came when they did the surprise reveal that Emma Stone's character was actually Carell and Moore's hitherto-unmentioned eldest daughter and Carell then proceeded to be a petulant dick to Gosling's character for the rest of the film - these guys were buddies mere moments before!

There were already a huge number of "okay, I don't buy what just happened..." moments up until that point: when Emma Stone's douchey lawyer boyfriend offers her a job (and I'm thinking, who are you, the firm's HR manager?), Marisa Tomei's character's overblown reaction to seeing Carell again (it was a one-night stand!), etc. - but, man, the last third of the film was a trainwreck.

I don't remember all of those things now, but I do remember how terrible I thought it was.

For some reason, that makes a ton of sense to me.

Anapolis. Not sure if I like it yet. James Franco.
The hobbit. Bit drawn out but looks amazing.
The odd life of Timothy green. Touching but It doesn't know of it's a kids movie or one for the parents.
Bourne legacy. Excellent. Crappy ending.
End of Watch. Excellent but heavy going.
The Campaign. Funny if a little hamfisted.

I'm just saying dude, you don't need to write three paragraphs explaining why you don't need to see it. I understand. I didn't say you needed to see it. Nobody else did. I just said that I liked it.

The whole 'there are two types of people in this world' business: does it break down to those who pay as much attention as platypus to films and those who do not?

Apparently it's a satire of the Serbian State and of the "fascism of political correctness."

I still don't need to see it.

I saw it a few months ago. I liked it. It's incredibly fucked up, but I like that it went all out. It was really well made, and the depravity of the acts depicted is genuinely disturbing. I think it's silly to say that movies like this one and "The Rebellion of Red Maria" are made solely for shock value, though it may look that way at first glance.

So you did see Serbian Film and you would suggest me to indulge in my curiosity?

I'd like to think I pay attention to movies. But I watch more TCM than I do new releases.

There's an untold number of different things that different people who "pay as much attention as platypus" pay attention to, in fact.

Was it the poor phrasing that did it, or the idea?

There are no redeeming cinematic qualities to it at all?
