There were already a huge number of "okay, I don't buy what just happened..." moments up until that point: when Emma Stone's douchey lawyer boyfriend offers her a job (and I'm thinking, who are you, the firm's HR manager?), Marisa Tomei's character's overblown reaction to seeing Carell again (it was a one-night stand!), etc. - but, man, the last third of the film was a trainwreck.

I don't remember all of those things now, but I do remember how terrible I thought it was.

I saw it a few months ago. I liked it. It's incredibly fucked up, but I like that it went all out. It was really well made, and the depravity of the acts depicted is genuinely disturbing. I think it's silly to say that movies like this one and "The Rebellion of Red Maria" are made solely for shock value, though it may look that way at first glance.

The whole 'there are two types of people in this world' business: does it break down to those who pay as much attention as platypus to films and those who do not?

Anapolis. Not sure if I like it yet. James Franco. The hobbit. Bit drawn out but looks amazing. The odd life of Timothy green. Touching but It doesn't know of it's a kids movie or one for the parents. Bourne legacy. Excellent. Crappy ending. End of Watch. Excellent but heavy going. The Campaign. Funny if a little hamfisted.
