Film fans are getting their first glimpse of Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln. The 55-year-old takes on an uncanny resemblance to America’s 16th president in a photo released by Disney. The actor plays him in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film Lincoln. It’s due for release here early next year.

Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.
Starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones, “Lincoln” is produced by Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, with a screenplay by Tony Kushner, based in part on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” by Doris Kearns Goodwin. The DreamWorks Pictures/Twentieth Century Fox film, in association with Participant Media, releases in U.S. theaters exclusive on November 9, 2012, with expansion on November 16, 2012.

okaaaaaay, that's enough. We'll just see. Lincoln was one miserable man, it'll be interesting to see how they tell the story.
I can totally appreciate not giving Spielberg the benefit of the doubt.....but the novel they're pulling from is interesting, and the actor's list is fantastic.

I don't for a moment believe that Lincoln would ever mutter a word about a technology that, at the time he lived, was still 50 years from being invented. But other than that, it's pretty spot on.

Listen, frankly, Speilberg doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt. Zero. He hasn't made a worthwhile movie since the 90s.
However, the cast of this thing and DDL are more than worthy of your unconditional excitement. I will see this movie. And I will hope for the best. I will keep an open mind and I will be blown away by DDL. Because the man is a force.
The supporting cast is outstanding as well.
Anyone who thinks DDL's performance will be at all about make-up is an idiot and I feel sorry for them.

Um, I'm sorry, d,t, but Catch Me If You Can is one of the more underappreciated movies of of the last 10 years and Munich was fantastic. I fricken love Munich.
