I am sick of going to blockbuster and the movies never being there so i was thinking of doing the rental over the internet where you can pick any three at one time and they mail them to you. Is anyone a member of netflix or blockbuster online, and if so which one is better?

I hope Blockbuster goes bankrupt. Serves them right for treating their customers like shit. I'll never visit another Blockbuster in my life. They're all shit.
Netflix usually has about a 2-day turnaround time (I return a movie on Monday, they get it Tuesday, I get a new one on Wednesday). But sometimes it takes longer, and they don't ship anything on Saturdays.
Getting new releases can require a long wait, but I've found a little trick. New releases come out on Tuesdays, but they usually ship them out on Mondays. Time your return so that they get it on a Monday, and have your desired new release at the top of your queue. If you time it right, they'll ship you the new release on that Monday and you can usually get it on the Tuesday that it's released. If it's not timed right, you'll usually end up waiting a week or so.
Blockbuster does have a better price, but I don't know if they have the selection or good shipping times that Netflix has. Plus I have some 400 movies in my queue that I don't feel like changing over.

You should really go with Netflix. Its a great set up. As previously discussed, they have an amazing turn around time. If you send them back on Monday you should get new movies wednesday or thursday at the very latest. The biggest thing is they have a shipping warehouse in pretty much every state, which allows for quick turn arounds. Im not sure how the blockbuster system is set up, so they may have a longer turn around. Blah blah blah, go with Netflix.

You can go to http://www.FreeDesktopPC.com/?r=13916201 and help me out. You can sign up and choose blockbuster online as an offer. $9.99 for the first month and $14.99 for each month after that. It's the one I was going to do but opted to do an offer with peoplepc instead because of the 30 day free trial and it not costing me anything.
I'm not trying to solicit just for the sake of soliciting, but the offer has a better price than signing up normally would have last time I checked.

netflix looks to have more, i am thinking about going with them. they have all the hbo dvd available for rent among most everything else. I have that unlimited pass at blockbuster but i think i am going to cancel it after work tonight. I guess doing the whole mail thing is better than going to the store and hoping it will be there

I've been a netflix member for a little over a year now.. I really like it, the movie arrive quickly, they always what I'm looking for.. great Indy film section.
i did the blockbuster online rental for a month (also to complete a free promotion), and i found it wasnt bad. i never tried netflix so i really cant adequately compare the two, but after reading a little about netflix, blockbuster may have a slight edge.
some pros:
its cheaper, can rent 3 at a time (i think netflix only has 2 at a time), get two free in-store rental coupons every month, and they ship on saturdays.
some cons:
i noticed a slow turnaround time with blockbuster. but theres a trick - you can manually order blockbuster to send out the next movie in your queue. everytime i return a movie or plan on returning it the next day, i check "i returned the dvd" box the night before and BB sends out another dvd in your queue the next shipping day. plus, i believe BB is scanning now - as soon as the dvd is scanned at the PO, they send out the next movie.
i tend to favor indie and foreign films and every title i checked, blockbuster had in stock. blockbuster has been a b*tch to deal with in the past, but if you can put those harmful feelings aside, its a good deal.

afaik, netflix has several different pricing structures. i think there's a cheapie option where you get thee movies a month, then there's the normal one which is three at a time, and then there's an option for 8 at a time, i believe.
netflix also just added an option (blockbuster may have this too), where you can make multiple queues for different people in the house and put them on the same account.

Go with Netflix. Better turnaround time and better selection.
The one advantage of Blockbuster is you get two in-store rentals a month for free so if you're waiting for your next batch of movies to come in the mail you can still get one at the store without having to pay.
