D-Day and i hear Flag Of Our Fathers was good too, i haven't seen it though.
They're saying the companion piece Letters from Iwo Jima (directed also by Eastwood but from the Japanese side of FooF) is much better than Flags, but that both improve on each other. I'd like to wait for these to both be out at the same time, maybe a boxed set or something. I've always found Eastwood's pacing painful, but having decapitations in the movies might help me overcome that.

Glory is awesome.
I usually don’t enjoy war movies due to their over-the-top nationalism and drum beating patriotism but Glory is such an important and well-done film. Morgan Freeman’s character is the Man.

ww2- kelly's heroes, the dirty dozen, catch-22, the big red one, stalag 17
vietnam- go tell the spartans, jacob's ladder, hamburger hill, tigerland(i guess it's more based around infantry training than the actual war, but cole hauser is fucking awesome in this movie)
i'd also recommend 'hearts and minds' if you want to see an amazing documentray about the vietnam war.
I don't think I'd classify Jacob's Ladder as a war movie.
yeah i was kind of on the fence with that one. in my own defense, i haven't seen jacob's ladder since i was 15. i just remembered some scene with tim robbins running through the jungle. either way, it's a good movie.
