Just saw this today, I thought it was great! Not your run-of-the-mill alien movie, it's kind of different. Definitely has more political undertones to it.

I saw this today and was quite impressed. It was a little cliche in parts, but it was pretty top notch for the most part. Some of the best special effects I've ever seen too.

VERY awesome movie
I knew a little bit about the real life District 6 relocations in Apartheid South Africa, so to see it interpreted for Aliens, taking place IN South Africa no less, made for a really cool story.
I disliked Vikous at first, his character somewhat reminding me of a non over the top South African Borat, but as the character develops along the movie I actually started to care somewhat about him.
I REALLY like how you can relate to the aliens more than the humans, since it is them who are experiencing more humanlike emotions than their captors, despite the fact they don't have much in terms of facial features, very well done by the filmmakers.
The action scenes are pretty neat, alien guns are awesome

I did not like this one. There wasn't anything that I haven't seen before in a dozen other movies, except an idea of what aliens would be like if they looked like bugs and acted like humans. with cool guns. I wouldn't recommend it.

Go see it and form your own opinion.
Yeah its the difference of going out and dropping $20 + or waiting 3 months and spending $5 as Blockbuster
Where do you go where a movie costs 20 bucks?
seriously. thats why you dont buy candy there, bud
Girlfriend and beverages man!
8.50 Per ticket = $17.00 alone
I worked as a projectionist for 3 years. 3 years of free movies and knowing how much everything really costs kinda changes your perspective. i took a girl to the movies a few months ago, i should have realized this
Bad ass in all the right ways. Story, character, acting, directing, production values ... seriously, District 9 has got the goods all around. It drops you right in the middle of this extraordinary situation so matter-of-factly, from the start, and commands you to keep up.
The first 30 minutes honestly took me a while to get used to because it's just so different from what we come to expect from this type of movie, but once the real story kicks in, it never looks back. The story itself is really pretty simple and straightforward, but the filmmaking is so meticulous, the characters (human and alien) very real and very nuanced. The attention to detail of this world-building on display here is so impressive, yet it never gets in the way of the story or what the characters are going through.
The last 25 minutes are some of the most exhilarating and cathartic minutes I've experienced during any movie. It's badass action when it means something, and that's always the best.
