I just finished the book. Even though I'm a huge Fincher fan, I don't know if I can bring myself to sit through this junk story again. It's horribly written, has almost zero characterization, and has more deus ex machinas than three King novels and more cliches than 10 Michael Bay movies. It's just so fucking amateur. Why so many people like it is beyond me.

After I saw the Swedish version, I thought, "The book is mega popular? Why? The story isn't even that great. It made for an average movie, anyway." And then I thought, "They're making an American version? Why?"

I then shut my mouth because I didn't want to sound like the ignorant guy who didn't know all the facts. But you might have just confirmed it for me. Thank you.

I wasn't all that impressed with the book looking back on it either. Daniel Craig and the girl both do really well though and salvage the movie.

so Harriet's sister died in a car crash, but Harriet still can carry on as her? Wouldn't the death not allow her to exist as Anita, was it?

I guess they didn't want to film in Australia.

Even in the book that thread is unnecessary. I always thought it would have been cleaner to do the way they've (apparently) done it in this movie.

I liked this a lot. Once again Fincher totally elevates everything he touches. The story wasn't that great (interesting enough though) but the film-making was just really good. If Mara can keep this up then I have to say she is a great actress. You wouldn't even think it was the same person from Social Network.

i haven´t read the books , and even though there were moments all seemed kind of rushed, i liked it.
i loved craig and mara, and specially christopher plummer...
The storytelling was good, but i wanted more time at the end...maybe half an hour more.
i want more.

I hope so. I know the stories themselves are not that complex, but I like the characters enough, and I am strangely turned on by Rooney Mara's depiction of Salander.
