Anyone know anything about the cast? That'll determine whether or not its worth seeing for me. If you have even the slightest miscasting with actors in an ensemble for a comic, it can ruin everything. Like X-men.

No casting has been done yet, just Sommers as director.

Here's hoping for Owen Wilson as Duke, Will Ferrell as Rock n Roll, Sam Jackson as Roadblock, Kirsten Dunst as Scarlett, Jason Statham as Snake Eyes, Jet Li as Storm Shadow, Jackie Chan as Quick Kick, Monica Belluci as the Baronness, Andy Serkis as CG Mutant Cobra-La Commander, and the T-1000 as Destro.

I loved G.I. Joe growing up. Loved the comics, loved the toys, loved the cartoon. I still have all of them sitting in my parents' house and I'm surprised they haven't burned them, since they take up a fair amount of space. Well, they did make me sacrifice quite a few large items which I regret (I'm sorry Terrordrome, I could have sold you on Ebay). I'll see a movie, because of this childhood fanaticism. I also expect to be greatly disappointed. Advice to any writers/directors, focus on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Just cut a live action version of the original movie, but don't let Duke (was it Duke?) survive the wound. Also, no Seargant Slaughter.

Duke didn't die? I was thinking he did. My memory of this is awfully fuzzy.

He was supposed to die and it was written that way originally but alas it didn't happen.

As for the toys with the rubber bands, I was at my parents' house this weekend and I found a box of these old things and a good third of them are in pieces because the rubber bands basically disintegrated.

...And a plotline revolving around the Weather Dominator. Global warming is real. Its all Destro's fault.

I'm sure Dr. Mindbender had his meddling hand in that infernal device as well. Maybe Patrick Stewart will continue to jump from nerd project to nerd project and make the good doctor a celluloid reality.

I liked X-Men, but as an ensemble cast, I think it could've been tweaked slightly for different actors, in all three of the movies. I never followed the comic that closely, so a more knowledgable fan might think that it was perfect. I just never thought Anna Paquin was a perfect fit for her character.

I own one Xmen comic book. I bought comics for two weeks in my life before tiring of it. So i dont know much either.

I can see Paquin being slightly miscast. Marsden also.

I never owned a GI Joe, just to get the thread back on track.

This is on Yahoo today: Sienna Miller will play the Baroness and Ray Park (Darth Maul/'Toad' in X-Men) is Snake Eyes.

Yeah, he's a martial artist/stuntman of some sort. He also played the Headless Horseman in "Sleepy Hollow." Walken played the Hessian, but Ray Park was the actual HH.

Hell yeah. Hopefully, the designs of Destro, Zartan, and the other goofballs they've chosen look as good or better. :)

My wife wouldn't watch this with me when it came on a basic cable channel yesterday.
