Ryan Dunn Funeral was Threatened by Westboro Baptist Church June 27, 2011 06:50 PM EDT
Ryan Dunn died early last week in a violent crash that totaled his car and left little more behind than charred rubble. But the news involving his death isn't quite over, because a negative entity is pushing itself into the picture. The Westboro Baptist Church threatened to picket any public memorial or funeral for the daredevil star, Ryan Dunn.
"WBC will picket any public memorial/funeral held for Dunn, warning all not to make a mock of sin, and to fear and obey God," a statement read.
Wednesday, Bam Margera entered the funeral home through the back entrance to attend the private memorial service, which was a somber event. The event lasted from the afternoon into the evening, and thankfully, with no sighting of the Westboro Baptist Church. Unfortunately, if anyone wants to pay any public homage to the passed celebrity, these animals do plan on protesting, and they are well within their rights to do so, unfortunately.
Ryan Dunn will be remembered for his defining role in the Jackass television show and movie franchise as well as other appearances. He was a near lifelong friend of Bam Margera, and the two pursued their love of daredevil stunts together out of boredom. He will be missed greatly and left behind a sad reminder that drunk driving is never safe or wise.
As for the Westboro Baptist Church, they're probably quite angry that Ryan Dunn's funeral/memorial was a private affair. Surely they were all drooling in anticipation to spread more of their hateful energy around those who are already suffering greatly. And they only have that right in public events and places, not at a private event such as this one. Oh surely they're foaming at the mouths, and it's obvious with their response to West Chester Police Chief Scott Bohn.
You see, Scott Bohn made sure the Phelps family, aka WBC, were aware that while he respected their constitutional rights, he questioned their motives for wanting to protest the man's funeral—to which WBC replied:
You are an unfaithful servant who needs correction immediately. You can't give lip service to your duty to remain impartial and uphold and defend the Constitution (which is meaningless unless you do so on behalf the rights of the minority view) and then nullify that duty with your mouth in the next breath. More importantly, you have put WBC members in imminent risk when they come to faithfully do their duty to God and man in the public (in West Chester).
Surely the Westboro Baptist Church has figured out by now that they are not wanted anywhere?
