Stephen King is writing the sequel.
It will feature Danny as a grown up.

Are you serious? Wasn't he suppose to retire like 5x already?

I'm pretty excited about that, King has been on a roll lately.

And what is up with King publishing another Dark Tower book? I thought he was done with all that too.

It's kind of a stand alone thing. You don't really need to read any of the other Dark Tower books to read The Wind Through The Keyhole.

Does anybody here follow Bret Easton Ellis on Twitter?

He's been on a soapbox lately about Stanley Kubrick being a closet homosexual. It's really interesting. But he posed this question a couple days ago: "Why is Jack Nicholson reading a Playgirl magazine in the lobby of The Overlook before his interview with Barry Nelson in SK's The Shining?"

I only bring it up because it's something I'd never noticed before. It's amazing. I've seen The Shining about 6 billion times and I never noticed that.

I want to say, "that's okay, because I like vagina!"

But somehow that seems like it would just make things worse.

Here are all the relevant tweets in chronological order (oldest to most recent):

"Has anyone heard that Stanley Kubrick was gay? Info from two very good sources that despite wife and kids he had a long-term male partner."

"I don't care who's gay and who's not gay but the fact that Stanley Kubrick might be gay makes a fascinating director even more fascinating."

"Adam Shankman's gayness directing "Rock of Ages" compared to Stanley Kubrick's gayness directing ANYTHING is a very compelling comparison."

"Kubrick's gayness: insider proof. It's all there."Ghosts" in The Shining giving blow jobs. Cruise being attacked as gay in Eyes Wide Shut.."

"Fact that Stanley Kubrick was gay seems to piss a lot of dudes off. It's actually fascinating and illuminating. Either way: great filmmaker."

"The subtextual PERSONAL meaning of "A Clockwork Orange" actually makes it even more interesting if Stanley Kubrick was, in-fact, a gay man."

"The fact that Stanley Kubrick might have been gay is actually a big deal: it means that there was at least one great gay American filmmaker."

"Contrasting gay American Stanley Kubrick (he wasn't British, you morons) to Cukor, Ray, Whales, Waters, Van Sant, Minnelli? I mean REALLY?"

"Never said Kubrick wasn't a loving husband or father. Only: his films are filled with allusions to homosexuality suggesting a closeted gay."

"Why is Jack Nicholson reading a Playgirl magazine in the lobby of The Overlook before his interview with Barry Nelson in SK's The Shining?"

"2001: HAL 9000 is the bitchiest, most murderous queen in American movies, obsessed with two extremely hot hunky pilot-scientists. SK=GAY..."

"There is more erotic (gay) tension between Keir Dullea and HAL 9000 in "2001" than there is between anyone else in Stanley Kubrick's oeuvre."

"I would be happy to hear any comments on the Tom Cruise and Alan Cumming scene in "Eyes Wide Shut" and the fact that Cruise never gets laid."

Those are a few generalizations. And he seems to be pretty obsessed with this idea, and seems to have devoted a lot of time in thinking about it. Which tells me that he wants it to be true.

If he was, he was, but I have my doubts, considering the subject matter of "sex" and "desire" are two of Kubricks biggest interests. Throughout his films, there are allusions to sexual desire, repression, frustration, violence, and power. He was like the talented, thinking man's porno director. That being said, it's hard for Kubrick not to include the bi-curiousness of homosexuality.

But I don't understand this fascination with Ellis and his need to cause a stir on the web.

Seems pretty clear that he does desperately want it to be true.

Bret Easton Ellis is a weird guy. I met him once, for work, and he was hanging out in his bathrobe at like 4pm. Turns out he has family in Buenos Aires and I used to work with his step-brother. He kept asking me questions about the Buenos Aires 'gay scene' even though I wasn't really qualified to give him a proper answer. He signed my copy of Less Than Zero, though, which was nice of him.

That's cool.

He recently wrote the script for Paul Schrader's upcoming project "The Canyons", which I tried out for via web audition. Lost out of course, I have no damn track record. Anyways, it's about a few 20 somethings in LA. Sex, glamour, drugs etc. And Ellis desperately wanted James Deen (the porno actor) in the movie. And Deen got the part, along with Lindsay Lohan starring opposite him. Ellis claims that Deen won out and gave the best read in the auditions, but everyone knows that's bullshit because he's not a real actor. Ellis campaigned for him beacause he has some fascination with the guy. I guess he loves big cock!
