Since I am back in school I have read 2 great books, Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse and The Stranger by Albert Camus

Anyone else ever read these?

Yes, they are excellent books. Since you liked Camus and Hesse I'd recommend Exile and The Kingdom and The Fall by the former and Narcissus and Goldmund by the latter.
