My girlfriend keeps trying to get me to watch this. Am I correct in it's a spoof on zombie movies?

Not exactly.
It's the third movie in the "Evil Dead" series (I haven't actually seen the first one) and it's spoofing all the horror/action genre cliches and it's also a big homage to the Three Stooges. So expect a ridiculous slapstick movie.

Even if you haven't seen any Evil Dead movies, watch AOD. It is fucking awesome. Hilarious and inspired.

The one-liners are the best in this movie!

"Good, bad...I'm the guy with the gun."

"You thought I was beautiful once."
"Baby, you got real ugly."

"Give me some sugar, baby."

"Right now, you're in charge of two things: Jack and shit, and Jack left town."

"Groovy."

"I may be bad, but I feel good."

"Put some back bones into it!"

and the greatest:
"Hail to the king, baby."

It's not necessary to see the previous Evil Dead movies, but I'd highly recommend at least seeing Evil Dead 2 before AOD. It makes more sense that way (if that's possible).

I still haven't seen The Evil Dead, and I gotta say, I feel like I was missing a bit from Evil Dead II.

You gotta check out Evil Dead! An absolute horror classic in every way. The funny thing is though, the backstory changes every time in the sequels and none of it is quite what happened in Evil Dead. It's close enough but I always thought it was funny that they changed things up a little bit each time they re-tell the story.

You forgot the best one:

"Hey, you got somethin on your face"

"Huh?"

*Ash throws dirt onto his severed head*

Hahahaha I love that part.

This thread should simply have a link to Maddox's update about Army of Darkness. He says all that can be said.

Even he agrees with me on the best one-liner!

"Great, just what I needed... A whore's blanket"
"Klattu Verata Nictmmphghh"

I have probably seen this movie 20 times. It never gets old. I'm not a fan of the Bootleg edition, it cuts out some pretty good lines. At least the "Boomstick Edition" incorporates both.

Which ending does everyone prefer?
