This episode was really exciting. I was really nervous when that whole chase for the football was going on.

My first impression of the VP was that he was kind of an asshole and he seemed happy that something might have been happening to the president. But then during the second scene it showed that he wasn't that bad of a guy, just kind of reserved.

So we found out that nothing actually happened between Michelle and that guy from Division. Which means that there is still a possibility for something to happen between Tony and Michelle. They will probably get back together sometime.

That was badass when jack was being shot at by that guy and then he planted that diversion and ran underneath him and said "hey" and then shot him. I started laughing. Jack is a badass.

This episode was a good one, more exciting than the past few weeks, I thiought.

There has to be a traitor up in high in the government, though. Who could it be? My guess is either Heller or that adviser guy that looks like Dick Cheney.

And Jack is a badass.

It's obvious to point out that Mike Novac might be the traitor based on the things that he tried to do to Palmer last season. HE might be involved but I don't think he is directly running things and the one person behind it. Heller is the only really good choice.

Good episode tonight, overall, but I have a couple of questions...

If the "playbook" & the control board inside the nuclear football are useless w/out each other, like Jack said, what good would it do Marwan to steal a few pages? Either there's a good explanation, or it's just sloppy writing.

And I don't really see how that chopper couldn't have just taken out both jeeps.

Also, it sure was convenient that the camper dude just happened to know what the nuclear football was. Seeing the presidential symbol on the wreckage should've been enough for them to make a call to authorities.

However, the whole chase leading up to the last 10 minutes was tense & exciting. I'm glad Jack was able to save that couple. I wonder what's going to happen w/ the VP, too. He never seemed like a jerk to me, just kind of unprepared or "unsure of himself," as they said in tonight's ep.

Good episode.

I've thought Heller was in on it for quite a while now. He was the one telling the President to stay in the air a few hours ago, among other things.

I think that Novick is there to bring Palmer back into the story. He thinks the VP isn't competent, and maybe the VP will make some decisions that Novick doesn't agree with, so Novick will contact President Palmer to bring back that relationship from last season.

Hmm.

I bought this; I think with all the movies that have mentioned the football, it's become relatively common knowledge what it is.

Yes, it was tense and exciting and I actually enjoyed 85% of the episode.

[sarcasm]The best part was when Jack gave them the code to unlock the football, something the terrorists didn't have. So he succeeded in keeping the terrorists from getting the football for an extra 5 minutes. Good job!

Apparently, the equipment used to authenticate the nuclear warhead activation codes was made in 1943 and hasn't been updated since. Thus, instead of simply issuing a notice that invalidates all previous activation codes, you have to get the gerbil off of the wheel that powers the activation computers and then unlock six padlocks and complete the secret handshake with the computer operator. THEN the nuclear codes are deactivated for THAT warhead. Only 600 more to go.[/sarcasm]

A friend and I were discussing the episode, and we both thought that Marwan had planted a fake "football," until they noticed the missing pages. I think that could've been more plausible, if they could've gotten around how he would've known what a replica should look like.

This would have been more believable if he'd have just called police b/c he found wreckage from Air Force One. There wasn't a lot to be gained from him actually recoginzing the football.

I'm not saying that Heller is innocent, but with Marwan running around free and CTU not know what the next attack would be, wanting the President in the air might not be that unrealistic. I dont know though.

Any why doesnt Jack's phone have a vibrate ring?

the helicopter not shooting out both jeeps was the biggest blunder that the show has ever made. it was a great episode until that point.

You know it's bad when the local Buffalo sports radio show just made fun of that scene, accusing the show as having jumped the shark (right, that JUST happened). They reenacted it over the radio, in mocking fashion.

Apparently, Marwan's jeep is capable of lightspeed and can outrun helicopters.

A salient point from the aformentioned radio show: "shows on TV try to be everything to everyone." This is the major problem with the majority of shows on television today. Pick an audience and stick with it! Alias, I'm looking in your direction! If you want to market toward preteen adolescent girls, then fine; change the show's name back to Felicity and put it on Saturday nights!

Lost is about the only show that has any credibility left, and it's still its first season. Of course, it's only on once every three months.

they had michelle explain it somehow, but i didn't really get it. i should watch it again and see if i can actually understand what she said. still right now that doesn't make much sense.

He is the Mummy after all. Don't forget that.

I too was scratching my head as to how they couldn't take out both jeeps. Take out one, follow the other.

Am I the only one who thinks the veep channels a Richard Nixon look? And, it appears we're getting closer to the real source of all this with Mike Novac and other aide.

It's obviously Sherry Palmer's evil clone, Terri.
