I've never played it, but they give it VERY high marks for gameplay and lasting appeal, despite the older-stlye graphics. And those guys are overly-nitpicky about everything, so I'm gonna guess that it's probably a pretty good game if you're into that kind of gameplay.

There's lots of good games, I usually check out the review lists on IGN. Anything they grade below a 7 I wouldn't bother with personally.
The most recent game I've played is Spider-Man 2, it's fun as hell and I played the shit out of it all summer. The first game is good too.
WaveRace: Bluestorm is a good game.
All the Star Wars games are awesome, particularly Rogue Squadron II and III.
I'll probably check out Prince of Persia somewhere along the line pretty soon, and maybe Mario Kart Double-Dash.
I'm also fascinated by this new "Donky Konga" game, I doubt I'll get it or anything but the damn thing comes with bongos to use for the game!

I bought it when it was new. The graphics look like something off of N64, but it is pretty fun. A game like the Sims would be the closest thing I could compare to it, but it is really orignal. You can probably get it pretty cheap by now, I got sick of it after a couple of weeks, but I have a friend who played the thing for almost a year. The only thing that sucks is that it takes up an entire memory card to save a game. Plus it has about a dozen old NES games that you can find, and then play on it.

Eternal Darkness. Especially if you're into the works of Edgar Allan Poe or H. P. Lovecraft, but it doesn't matter if you aren't. It's still an absolutely terrific game either way. Review: http://cube.ign.com/articles/363/363071p1.html

Yeah, Animal Crossing was a pretty addictive game. For about a month or so after it was first released I had to play that sucker at least an hour or two every day. I'd recommend checking it out, especially now that you can pick it up for twenty bucks.

I'd reccomend it yeah. You have the whole Island of Manhattan at your disposal, and you can go wherever you want at any time, no load times. You can climb up to the top of the Empire state building and dive the fuck off it, you can go out to the statue of liberty, do whatever you want at your own pace as the game progresses. It's a big wide open city and it's like GTA just going around doing your own thing. It's just wide open, high flying freedom. They even have two beams of light set up at ground zero.
I'd have to agree with what Napolean said about Metroid and Eternal Darkness. I don't like first-person games but Metroid is probably one of the best games out there from what I hear, and Eternal Darkness (which I might check out sometime) is written about like it's the best game ever put out on the gamecube.
