Slater Arrested for Alleged Groping NEW YORK - Actor Christian Slater was arrested early Tuesday and charged with groping a woman on a Manhattan street, police said.
Slater, 35, was accused of touching the woman's buttocks near 93rd Street and Third Avenue on the Upper East Side around 1:50 a.m., said a police spokesman, Detective John Sweeney.
The woman, who was not identified, flagged down police to report the incident, Sweeney said. Slater was found nearby and the woman identified him as the man who groped her.
Slater, who's appearing on Broadway in "The Glass Menagerie," was arrested on a charge of third-degree sexual abuse. He was expected Tuesday in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Slater starred in the 1980s classic "Heathers," as well as "True Romance," and "Untamed Heart" in the 1990s.
In August 1997, he was arrested after he allegedly bit a man in the stomach and threw a police officer against a wall during a rowdy party in Los Angeles. The actor later pleaded no contest to the charges and served 90 days in jail.
He filed for divorce earlier this year from television producer Ryan Haddon. In 2003, Haddon was accused of hitting him with a drinking glass during a fight in their Las Vegas hotel room. She was jailed briefly but no charges were filed.

Third-degree sexual abuse for an ass-grab?

.Wow.
Do you think that the police would have taken action if the person accused wasn't famous?
I'm not saying that what he did was okay, because its not okay to just grab at someone else, but still..... I mean odds are, he was leaving a bar and was probably drunk, right? Still not a good excuse, but if he wasn't famous, I wonder if the police would have bothered to do anything.

c-
nope
I think if it were me, and someone grabbed my butt, I would have turned around and kicked him in the balls rather than flag down a cop..... as it stands there have been a couple of instances where such a think has occured and I've had to turn around and slug the person (albeit not a very effective hit, but still,.....they were people I knew and I also knew they were drunk. If it were a stranger I think I would have gotten a bit more violent).

Isn't the punishment for ass-grabbing a stern yelling at from the police officer.
I was drunk and kicked a traffic flare, like, a foot. This cop tore into me and said he could cuff me and take me downtown and charge me with obstruction of something or other. They he screamed at me to get lost.
That seems like a fair punishment for ass-grabbing as well.

I wouldn't mind if Christian Slater grabbed my ass. Even if he cupped my balls a little i still wouldn't have reacted badly
