I bought the Deluxe Edition today and I must say it's a fucking great movie. I'd seen it a few times before, but the extras are amazing. Anyone else a fan?

Ridley Scott hasn't made a good film since Blade Runner, and it was a fluke for him.

I went into watching this movie with very low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't certain if they'd actually portray the fact we didn't know what the fuck we were doing there, and f'ed up completely. I was also worried they'd try to tack on some sort of happy ending. So overall, not the greatest film I've seen, but I enjoyed it.

Its definitely not a bad movie, but the whole propagandistic aspect of showing the Somalians as angry savages was a bit over the top. The action scenes were pretty cool, but I will never believe that anything Jerry Bruckheimer attaches his name to will be remotely intelligent or interesting.

Read the book. I was actually dissapointed by the movie because it actually seemed to tone down a lot of the shit that went down there. Our guys were in scenarios where they had people firing at them while holding women and children as hostages in front them, and having to make a decision on what to do. The movie is pretty decent, but the reality of the situation was much more intense.
