this is probably my favourite sci-fi show. unfortunately for me, it was rather short lived (only two seasons) and my local pbs channel decided to stop running it on it's sci-fi friday night line-up.
the plot is pretty basic: there were seven people living on a space station called "unity" in the year 2005. they all work for a high profile research company back on earth. they grow hydroponic tomatoes. it's good stuff.
also, one of the space stations guys was incredibly cute and had a really fanatstic british accent. that's probably why i started watching.

remember dr. who? that guy had a big fucking phone booth!
i don't get that show, and because i don't get it, they play it three times on friday nights.
explain it to me, spike-y.
it's been so long since i've seen it, i don't think i can. i just remember dr. who having a slight resemblance to gene wilder and drab english landscape.

MANTIS on Fox. It was on before X-Files and involved a handicapped dude who made this suit that allowed him to walk and kick criminal ass. Of course, the thing was ugly as hell. So there's no way it would ever sell.
So he goes and does what all fictional characters with well-balanced moral barometers do: become a costumed superhero.
It wasn't very compelling, so that's why it got canned and became one of many Fox shows that die early. It got replaced by V5 or something like that.

anybody else ever see this? for some reason the boy always showed the girl, who lived on another planet, laurel and hardy shows. it was on real early saturday mornings about 20 years ago.
i'm sure it contributed to my elementary school nerddom.

Dr. Who was the weirdest show .. the guy playing the Doctor would change every few seasons - he would get reborn or something. I liked it best when he was played by Tristan from All Creatures Great and Small (was I a PBS freak? ) but gawd, the plots were so unwieldly.
the Dr. Who fans are at least as nerdy as the Trekkies - for instance,
