Sopranos Extended to 7th Season

The Bada Bing will remain open for business for yet another year as HBO announced Thursday that The Sopranos will continue for an additional eight-episode run beginning January 2007.

Long the subject of rumor and speculation--in April, series star Michael Imperioli said that Sopranos creator David Chase was "on the fence" about a seventh season, even while Chase said he was ready to bring the series to a close--HBO said the current production cycle would culminate with 20 finished episodes, 12 of which will run beginning March 2006, with the remaining eight unspooling in January 2007. Shooting resumed this summer in New York.

"We are obviously delighted that we will be able to extend The Sopranos series beyond its slated 12 episodes," said Chris Albrecht, HBO chairman and CEO said in a statement. "When something is as remarkable as The Sopranos, our audience would like to see it continue as long as possible; so we are thrilled that David Chase felt there are more stories to be told."

HBO offered viewers a similar long goodbye to its half-hour comedy Sex and the City, which in early 2004 enjoyed a bonus run of eight episodes just a few months after its final full season aired

start at the beginning- some of the best shows; I would skip last season or two all together personally

Watch the whole thing. Seriously. You'll likely turn to BitTorrent, but I've spent untold hundreds on the DVDs over the years, and they still don't gather dust. True story.

So I don't get HBO ... sue me already.

the edited re-runs aren't as bad as I thought they'd be.

Yeah, that's an awesome clip. There was nothing like this on TV when it first aired ... But there have been countless attempts at primetime drama like the Sopranos ever since. I just love this show.

Wierd that you mention it too, cos I just started with my Sopranos dvds again. I still don't regret all the money I spent on them - except that now they cost a third of what I paid for them. But they don't get old.

I must say I have mixed feelings about The Sopranos. When it was good it was very very good but there are also stretches of episodes where I swear nothing happened. On original viewings I thought something would be building but nope, it was really nothing.

As you'll see on the page this video is kinda old, it was put up in 2009, don't know if it was ever posted here but I was just reminded of it today, it's pretty damn funny.

A compilation of literally every single use of profanity in the entire Sopranos' run, it goes about a half hour. :haha:

A colleague at work kept telling me to watch this; he has the whole boxset on DVD so he let me borrow it. As I type this I've just started the season 5 finale.

Honestly, this has become one of my favourite shows ever. I've watched them all in approximately a 2-month run and I'll be sad when it all finishes. Sure, there were episodes when not a lot happened but I kind of like those ones because we're just getting to watch the characters be themselves and do regular shit.

I read that the guy Paulie and Christopher spend a whole day chasing through the forest in season 3 actually resurfaces in the finale. Is that true???? If so, that's just immensely brilliant.
