Are there any movies that you've seen before that have a scene you know is coming, but you just can't watch it? Here's a few of mine:

Requiem For a Dream: Jared Leto sticks a syringe into this gaping black hole that was once part of his arm.

Trainspotting: Ewan McGregor sticks his head into a cess pool of god knows what in a public toilet.

Misery: Kathy Bates places a log between the feet of James Caan and smashes it with a sledgehammer.

American History X: Ed Norton forces a black guy to bite the curb...and then stomps on his head.

All great calls.

Don't forget the Uma syringe to the heart in Pulp Fiction.

All scenes involving Arwen in Lord of the Rings.

I haven't seen Misery, but I love all the scenes mention above in the thread.

This is the one that came to mind when I read the subject of your post.

Of course, for me, I generally don't watch the movie again if it had even one truly unwatchable scene. That is why I haven't seen Americna History X twice.

For me, quite a few of the scenes in Farhenheit (no idea how to spell that) 911 were unwatchable. I stopped watching it altogether toward the end. I already agree with the premise, why subject myself to such disturbing images.

I used to have a subscription to American Photo. I have never opened another issue since I got my 9/11 related issue. There were pictures of people jumping out of the towers from really high up. I know it isn't surprising or anything, but I couldn't look at it. It literally made me want to vomit.

Couldn't agree more (I think the powder was lye). There was also a part in Fight Club where this big black guy smashes Ed Norton's head on the concrete floor. That one makes me cringe, too.

all of the scenes mentioned so far pretty much get me, but ill take this in a different direction, scenes like the one in meet the parrents where they come back from dinner and find that the cat tore up everyhting, and then at that point find out all the screw ups greg has made.
that part is hard to watch because you can feel the embarrasment

Cool, you could take this thread in a whole new direction with this. I feel this alot watching movies or even reading books. You bond with certain characters and when something horribly embarrasing happens to them you feel almost as embarrased as them.

Another Ben Stiller embarrasing moment has to be when he zips up his balls in Something About Mary.

I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same remorse for Mikey in Swingers during the whole "This is Nikki, leave a message" scene.

I find that when I'm watching a film, I only have embarassment empathy for children, really dorky characters, and old people. Gregg was funny to watch.

My brother lasted about half an hour when watching this movie. He can't stand seeing people making asses of themselves, so he had to leave the room quite early in the movie.

I'll go on with an obcure one.

The movie is called "Irreversible" and the scene I can't bare watching is Monica Bellucci's rape scene. I don't know if it's the acting, or the directing, but it's waaaay too real for comfort.

The scene where the cop gets his ear cut off in Reservoir Dogs.

Hm, I think I can agree on that one. The whole movie is quite disturbing, and I have no intention of watching it again.

no way! that was comedic if anything.

michael madsen dancing to "stuck in the middle" and then talking into the ear? come on, that was great. even my mom thought it was funny.
