1. Any other movie ever made
2. House of 1000 Corpses
3. The Devil's Rejects

Well, I can't comment on Rejects because I haven't seen it yet, although I agree w/ you where Corpses is concerned. It's really, really, bad -- bad bad in horror terms.
The horror genre is often a fun genre -- the expectations aren't necessarily high here. But, good lord, this is an awful, awful, movie.

House was just horrible, but Devils Rejects is getting some positive buzz. Only one bad review so far on Rotten Tomatoes, and several positive ones. Have you seen it already B?

No, I haven't. I just thought this was a creative way to say I think Rob Zombie's directing skills are shit.

I was very disappointed with House, but there are plenty of worse movies out there. I still have some hope for The Devil's Rejects, it's supposed to be very different than House.

I absolutely loved House of 1K Corpses and can't understand all the hatred it got. Actually, the fact that mainstream critics panned it and it completely disturbed every audience I had the pleasure of watching it with says it all right there. If you think "Scream" and it's ilk are horror, then the work of Mr. Zombie likely isn't for you.
Anyway, as derivative as House might have been, I don't see how any true horror fan could deny that it delivered the goods, both in terms of performances from Sid Haig and Bill Mosley and Zombie's acid trip directing style. Also, after House was a success, Lion's Gate began to buy up even more great horror movies and has basically been the home of legit, artist and fan friendly horror ever since. So, I'd rank Zombie's directing and one movie so far above tons of other mediocre crap out there and can't wait for "The Devil's Rejects". It's something made for some of us, not all of us and you have to respect that. If you don't like old 70's horror and exploitation films then stay home and let the rest of us have all the fun.

It didn't disturb me at all and I really didn't think it delivered the goods as much as it should have. And I am most certainly a horror fan.
I mean, there was just not much gore, and the whole thing was like a ripoff of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre only with neon lights and directed by someone with a bad case of ADD.

It definitely had elements of lots of old horror movies, with TCM being the most obvious. Look, Bill Mosley's performance as Otis almost erases him as Choptop in my mind, and that's no small feat, especially considering that's almost a crossover between the two franchises. Sig Haig as Capt. Spaulding is another one for the ages, in my opinion. As for the gore, I really didn't think it was very gory either. On the other hand, naked dead cheerleaders with words scrawled in their bodies don't show up in exactly every movie that's gotten mainstream distribution here recently. Plus, I liked the shots where they would zoom in on the action instead of doing the cut aways, just nice nods to the films of yesterday. Also, I thought the soundtrack was great and music was utilized in the film in a way that's as good as anything out there. The cops getting slaughtered to "I Remember You" and then 30 seconds of silence before Otis shoots him was classic. Was it heavily influenced by Texas Chainsaw? No doubt about it. But I would rather see the influence of those classics carried on in the way Zombie did it than to just see outright useless remakes like the one of Texas Chainsaw that came out that same year. For me, "The Devil's Rejects" was number two on my list of most anticipated for this year, right behind "Land of the Dead".
