I'm a little alarmed at how wound up and defensive adults get over reading children's books.
Have you read them? Were defending them because they are good. I wouldn't call books 4 and 5 kids books at all. They mature as you go through the books and they are fun as hell to read. I haven't met anyone who has read these books that hasn't loved them, (not liked, LOVED).
