Julio Cortázar is probably one of the best authors from Latin America, when actually we was raised in Europe. Julio wrote lots of books, most of them in Spanish.
I would like to know what you´ve read from this great Argentinean author... one of the best around the world.
Let me tell you what I have read and what I can suggest you
Later I will tell you what they´re about (and I hope the amazon links will help you, it´s not that wasy for me to explain the unusual style of Cortazar)

It's nice to see somebody else championing this writer. I love his stuff, although I've only read Cronopios and Famas. It had a very profound effect on me. I'll probably be reading Hopscotch or a collection of short stories from him in the very near future.

Oh! It makes me so happy to know that at least some people know what I´m talking about.
I´ve been looking at amazon.com just to know which latin american "well known" books are available in English and it´s so sad to realize that only few of them are translated.
Luckily, most of Cortazar ones are translated, that´s great!!
bondcfh007, I´m sure that you will love whatever you read from him...

Being from Argentina, surely you have read the mighty Jorge Luis Borges?
Oh, yes I did, but I never read a complete short stories book from him. I just read some stories and some poetry from Borges.
The reason? I don´t know... I guess lots of authors came to me before him
I want to get "El Aleph", one of the most famous ones.

What have you read from him?
I picked up Penguin's edition of Collected Fictions a few years ago. Some favourites are
Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
The Library of Babel
The Garden of Forking Paths
Death and the Compass
The House of Asterion (from The Aleph)
Shakespeare's Memory
His influence on writers like Cortazar is quite strong.
