Have you read the book, edzeppe?
Im afraid to. Its not hyperbole when i call this my favorite drama in television history, and i know a lot of the characters are based on the real people... specifically Tim Bayless (which is also funny that he is the guy orpheus called cliche "rookie guy".) And i dont want to impact my opinions or feelings of any of them, and i am afraid reading the book will do so.
also, didnt the BPD stop using the big board with the red and black names a result of this show made it appear kind of crass?

The book is easily as good as the series. Although it probably isn't as effective these days as back when it came out since pretty much every cop show/movie since then has imitated it. Still great though.

Saw another disc, it included "Three Men & Adena." Been busy so it took a while. Really love the cast of this show, it's sort of ridiculous. Ned Beatty, Melissa Leo, Andre Braugher, plus the other folks. It's just full of ringers.
isnt 3 men and adena a pretty ballsy episode for a show that was not at all established?
And the acting, and the people, what set this show apart, or what? When they are having all the conversations in the front seat of the car, you really feel like you are sitting in the back seat just listening in to a couple of guys talking.
Yeah it's pretty great, just like The Wire. The recurring discussion of the Abraham Lincoln conspiracy is hilarious.
And I definitely like Bayless a lot now. It was just the first episode that it sort of seemed cliche.

Bayless does seem like a cliche at first, until the extent of his torture, but more importantly, the development of his relationship with Frank makes you wonder how Kyle Secor never really became a bigger star.

Love this show. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" is the best episode so far. Them trying to quit smoking + electrolyte neuron magnetic scanner + John Waters = awesome. The acting is so good and the realism of the little things the characters do is amazing.

Fun Fact: When i initially burned these from Netflix (*for... backup purposes only) I burned the first one, and asked my wife to put it in the dvd player.
I had written Homicide S1D1 on it. She convinced me i spelled Homicide incorrectly (and of course i couldnt be bothered to check) and that it was actually Homocide. So i have the entire series is labeled "Homocide" on dvd. of course those DVDs are unneeded, since now i have the actual set.

so I saw SWAT was on last night, and i know it was directed by Clark Johnson (Homicide, the wire) so i decided to click on the cast and crew info... and discovered that Homicide is on at 4 am weekdays on some station called "Centric" (330 directv)
