So I just was at the dollar store getting such necessities as paper towels and whatnot, and when I was looking at their $1 DVD's. Needless to say I bought it.

Who remembers this from school? Definitely a classic.

I've read the book. It's great.

I haven't seen the animated version, although I have seen the remake for TV. Which really isn't good.

Great book...I liked 1984 better though. Same author, no?

Yep! George Orwell, one of my favorite authors.

I loved Animal Farm, but I never saw either or any of the movies to judge. It's a compelling and genius political satire, and I don't throw those words around too often. I'd recommend the book to anything. It's not too long, and yet, it's clever and stunning page by page.

He'll of course, always be known for 1984, but this was another of his best, and often overlooked, novels.

As always, the book is better. The animated movie is great though. I remember in school when we were reading it I was like the only one in the class who liked it.

1984 is the better book, but there is no animated movie of that for $1.

I enjoyed that movie, but never read the book

the movie for 1984 was horrible, even though I love the book.

i believe animal farm was intended to be simple, whereas 1984 was intended to be more complex. I really enjoyed animal farm, its a good easy read. But you are right 1984 is a far superiour book.

Anyone who hasn't read it needs to turn off the computer and go to the library.

The only part that went wrong in 1984 is that you can still go back to your original thinking, even with torture. Nothing can stop the freedom of thought.
